Why? This is an amazing conference with plenty of athletic and academic prestige

Without question Aresco knows two more teams are leaving the AAC.

My opinion, this conference  sucks and there was no way to pick teams that would have made it better. At least our side seems winnable, seems.

Oh well, life goes on. Who cares who we play, just start winning.

So now this makes a little more sense. The remaining 8 will make about 7 million for length of contract with the newcomers making less but much more than they made in CUSA.
Also look who was in the expansion committee

https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-the-aac...15069.html

USF, Memphis, Navy and SMU were in charge of the expansion committee for the aac...

Per Thamel:

"There are still some final details to work out. There is expected to be a significant boost in television money for the six schools, but they are not expected to get the same share of the TV revenue that the established eight schools currently get.

Conference USA schools currently receive less than a million dollars annually in television revenue. The amount they will receive is still being finalized, but the television revenue will be more than $2 million at the start of the deal and rise significantly from there. Incumbent AAC members are still expected to average about $7 million annually over the course of the current ESPN television deal, which runs through 2031-32."

So the same deal would pay the remaining 8 (let's just count Navy/Wichita as one full for ease) 7m each per year, and 3.5 each to the new members (we lost 3 at 7m, adding 6 at 3.5m. easy math).Thank

So it sounds like maybe that was the reward for not messing with current ESPN properties is the TV deal stands largely unchanged. Its still 83 million a year. The AAC payout deal will stay the same for the 8 remaining schools (8 x 7 per year=56 million) and the incoming schools divide the other 27 million (27 divided by 6 teams is 4.5 million each). If the AAC also goes to a largely divisional scheduling model---both new and old members might save substantial money on travel as well.
