Let's see.  No OCS, seats are green not red. Two options:

Time for the calls to go independent in football.

Switch the campuses so we'd be playing at an OCS with the proper colored seats.

Off topic sorta. A high school classmate of mine went to FSU for football, had redshirted and then switched to Temple. I lived 30 miles outside of Phila and learned then that Temple had football.

Temple has a football team?

 Rice {academics}

If I am not mistaken, when the AAC took Houston,SMU, and Tulane that left Rice as the only team which had once been in a big time conference which was not still in a P5 or in the AAC.

That is correct. They are the second smallest FBS school in the nation (Tulsa is #1). But they have one of the richest alumni bases in the nation along with a substantial endowment. Their stadium actually hosted a Super Bowl back in the day (SB 8). However, the administration and alumni do not want to spend money on FB (sound familiar?) and they have slowly declined over the years. If Arisco got a commitment from them to spend I bet they come to the AAC to replace Houston.

Yes, NewEngland sums it up as to why Rice should not be dismissed instantly.  Hey, we need the dues!

I did wonder why Rice had never even had a look by the AAC even if only in passing.

So, I know we all were disappointed with what happened to the Big East and all agree that the AAC leaves a lot to be desired but I would argue that at least USF had a place to be after what happened.  Imagine being TCU, Houston, SMU, and Rice in 1996 and having the rug pulled out from underneath you.  I know all but Houston had been in the conference for over 70 years.

Rice is located in Houston and UH would never allowed them in the AAC. Of course the conference also had that market covered.

I remember back when I was a little kid-teen watching Rice on TV they were pretty good..of course it was in Black and White but...still good. Color TV must have been their downfall..??   😏

I know nothing will be unannounced until it's all said and done, but the silence from Aresco is pretty deafening. After the CSU/Air Force thing, I haven't seen anything at all that's not total fan speculation. Where are all the well-placed sources? Someone needs to start talking!

May have been noted?? Read a long article last night on cbssports about the C-USA study/pursuit to have a regional mega conference type thing. AAC pretty much said, not interested. Don't know if they have made their pitch or not to AAC and Sun Belt. Our ESPN tv $$ could be affected w/ the 3 teams leaving. Somehow the AAC has to replace them with some Wow factor...I'm still an App State vote. I think they bring a lot to the table. They are a tv darling. From there?? UAB?? It does get AAC into the Alabama market. Marshall ?? they seem to be playing good and they were a force in the past. Another Texas team?

Hopefully, Aresco wasn't ahead of himself on the MW teams and got smacked down?? Confusing Times
