If you are referencing the article on page 2204, it is a joke. They mentioned that Tulane and Southern Miss were being seriously considered and then had to redact to say that they weren't.

yeah, they were prob just trying to petition for a spot like we all did the last time the B12 talk drifted around. I was first, addressing the bladder conversation. But, the 4 teams making the along with poss future teams like Boise and Memphis...yep, it bums me out. We are so so low on anyone's radar right now. Our program took a massive fall. To bad

There was a concerted effort to focus almost exclusively on building academic prestige and growing the endowment. I certainly can't argue with the results on that end, but much of that growth came at the expense of the football program. I don't mind a University being focused on academics and fundraising, but improving athletics and facilities can be part of that vision for growth.

Not that it matters, but Tulane at least has us beat academically and is a better road game destination. Hattiesburg, MS? There is no good way to travel in and out of that AMAZING destination. And their academics suck...imagine having a 96% acceptance rate? I think Devry is more selective. And their football program has performed worse than ours over the last decade. When I saw their name listed, I checked to see if I was reading the sports page from The Onion.

Correct, football is indeed the front porch of a university if it is done correctly.

Tulane would not be out of the question but Southern Miss will be going nowhere for eternity.

I decided to look it up on US News and World Reports and, I **** you not, Devry has an identical 96% acceptance rate. I have always said that Southern Miss is the Devry of the South!

Yeah listing Southern Miss cut into their credibility with that report. Even Tulane seems questionable from a money making purpose, since their last home game with 30k attendance (9/6/2014) we've had 23 games with at least 30k attendance.

Southern Miss going up without us would definitely shake my assertion that I won't be that upset until a younger football program than ours gets called up and we don't ........... but having said that, just as an FYI to some that still don't get the adversity we've been facing in the Donor Department. Since 2005, when we entered a big boy conference, to 2019, we've had an accumulation of Contributions to the tune of $43M. That same time frame, USM has had $57.5M.

When the University is essentially suppressing athletic donations in a bid to increase its endowment, that is going to happen.

I will take the time to point out that casual student attendance is probably impacted by being on Black Friday and the bore on I-4 is probably not the best sample of how being on a campus that’s empty will impact student attendance

If I'm not mistaken, I think this was the one year with the game they actually held on Thanksgiving Day.  I remember thinking that it was a horrible idea, and I communicated my opinion to Harlan to please don't play this game on TG in the future.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
