Nah, they would move Coastal Carolina to Florida and then take them.

The window of opportunity. They only have so long to make a big play. Be defensive and get left behind.
(Although they seem to be in a tougher position, given their limit choices in close schools.)

I respect your point but don’t agree. They can acquire the B8 teams at anytime and any of them would jump at the chance. Two of the teams in the B8 meet the academic standards of the PAC.

Academics, yes. But geographically, no. Cali folks are Cali-centric and they can’t find Kansas on a map. They’re even less likely to want to be involved with anything from Kansas on a regular basis. The Pac12 would be more likely to bring in Nevada or the smurf turf crew, than stray too far from their promised land. The Cali schools plus oregon carry the clout for the conference

You are probably right from a cultural perspective but I still think geography plays less of a role if there are a few clusters.

The Big 12 is smart to be meeting now to have a game plan and a short list. I don't see them holding an open RFP like before.

And that MHver West Virginia guy was the same guy throwing every possible scenario out in 2009 and he got close on a few things so people somehow take him seriously when he's no more in the know than anyone else. Ignore him.

That's what I'm saying... The PAC I'm sure is giving the Big 12 a deadline to survive...

The sub committee the Big 12 had appointed is the leadership of Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas, and Iowa State. They are leading the charge for the conference. Led by TT's Kirby Hocutt who led the CFP Committee as well. Let's hope Michael Kelly can work some CFP contacts and has relationships with the others to get us there...

EDIT: more specifically - TT AD Kirby Hocutt (presumed leading it), Baylor AD Mack Rhoades, Kansas Chancellor Doug Girod, Iowa St. President Wendy Wintersteen
