Compared to being independent, the AAC is indeed a big time conference. Hell, the Sun Belt is big time in comparison.  You know, I’m really quite surprised that you are taking puc’s position on this. Especially for someone who loves college basketball. Going independent in football will essentially kill both women’s and men’s basketball as the best they would do is play for one of those nights be bid conferences.

Football doesn’t have to play in the same conference. If the AAC with accepts Wichita State without football, they can take our program without football. Or we can send them back to Big East.  Lowly NMSU’s basketball team plays in a conference.

Really? Why would they do that? You really think the AAC is going to allow us to keep Olympic sports while going independent in football?  Uconn tried that when basketball left and it did not fly. Why would the BE (getting $7 mil a year from FOX) find our basketball worth $7mil? We would end in a basketball only conference playing for one bid. There is already 500 fans at the game now, it would be around 25 in one of those conferences. This is not even mentioning WBB, Jose would be out the door quickly.
