Would love to see this kind of stuff start happening, would really shake up these "POWER" conferences, losing all their Sallies.

WVU finds itself in a very strange position.

It's never been an academic juggernaut.

Attendance in declining.

State population is declining.

It will be interesting to see what options they have in the future.

i hear most are moving to frisco texas

Gap tooth did make an improvement with them last year and he got the administration to increase asst coaches salaries and put millions into infrastructure projects. Going to be interesting to see if they step up somewhat in the next few years.

AAU is king?

Some Power 5 conferences value a school’s ‘institutional profile’ over its football program

Let’s hope. Seeing how our endowment is almost second in the state and far ahead from ucf, this would be great for us.
It would be hilarious if we were to receive AAU status and got picked to go to a higher conference while ucf stayed behind again with all their “national titles” and stuff. The tears would be phenomenal. 😂

Have to admit I'm loving this Best Case Scenario for the ACC at CFN...

ACC

Best Case Scenario: The ACC and Notre Dame finally tie the knot in football – that was fun in 2020, wasn’t it? – Cincinnati and West Virginia add decent regional options, and the league beats the Big 12 to UCF and USF.

The league doesn’t stand pat, and no one can figure out how to get past the contractual gates to take the schools desperate for a better deal.

What are the best and worst case scenarios for conference expansion, and what’s likely going to happen? Here’s the best guess for every league in the Daily Cavalcade...

USF/UCF in the ACC would grow exponentially. Playing schools like North Carolina, FSU, Clemson, Miami, etc. USF would probably average 60k+ in attendance quickly. Both schools would become big ticket items in huge urban areas. The talent on the roster would grow like crazy being able to pitch staying home and playing in the ACC.

And thats exactly why it will never happen as long as Miami and FSU are in the conference. They don't want the talent pool of Florida's elite recruits being spread any thinner. They have big fanbases in Tampa and Orlando and they don't want that market share to dwindle either.
