The conspiracy theory should surprise no one.  I know some on here and elsewhere dismissed the fact that ESECPN did in fact manipulate things so the Big East would collapse and in turn send USF to purgatory but I and others knew the truth.  While the Big East lacked strong leadership and was vulnerable, I still feel that their behind the scenes deals are what pushed the Big East cart over the edge of the mountain.

Now, I have little to no love for the Big 12, the conference which put USF through a song and dance routine a couple of years ago in hopes of being invited to their party only to humiliate us and reject us That said, I hope they do have hard evidence of tampering and are able to at least embarrass ESECPN and hopefully financially punish them.

Didn't they pretty much reject everyone at that point in time ...... ?

Yes.  I felt that it was all just a show from the beginning.

As a USF fan, I’ve only ever wanted to be treated fairly. ESPN was clearly behind the implosion of the Big East years ago, but no one (except the schools left behind, like USF) complained at the time. In fact, I remember lots of ACC schools and other conferences (and ESPN!) cheering it on and denigrating the Big East. It sucked, but there wasn’t much we could do about it, or so it would seem.

Well, now it’s the B12’s turn to bend over. Sorry, not sorry, B12. And if the remaining members of the B12 somehow manage to stick together, preventing the AAC from benefiting from this conference realignment situation, I’ll be bitterly disappointed. USF and Cincy (and UCONN I guess) shouldn’t be the only CFB schools ever to suffer demotion. Misery loves company.

It would be nice.  The whole thing seems highly unethical because they are playing both sides of the fence and trying to nuke their own deals to screw over the B12 member schools.  It's really fun to have a business partner like that.  I still wonder if they are trying to expedite the chess game due to the cord cutting bubble popping in their face in the future.

The more I think about it, the more I'm torn. How quickly the Big 12 and their partners forget poaching WVU and TCU from the Big East when it was fighting for survival. Talk about tortious interference! I wish nothing but ill on all of them.

If all you have to do to stop the gutting of your conference is send a little cease and desist letter I will be convinced now more than ever we need to get the f out of this cesspool even it means having to go independent.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
