I guess it's debatable but when this thread was started I find it hard to call us a college football big boy and in a power conference. We were a drowning rat trying to find our way to a lifeboat off the Titanic ..... and the first several pages gave a glimpse into the awesomeness this thread was going to turn into:

If that is the case than we never made the lifeboat and we are currently in purgatory, we were probably better suited for steerage all along anyways.

Just biofroze due to hypothermia and CJS hopefully has a blow torch ...

You might but 99% of the rest of the world only cares about MBB and FB. I agree with @Friscobull.The rest of the sports is just window dressing. I’ll take a New Years Day game (conference championship) in football over a WWB national championship every day.

We won a National Championship in swimming at USF and closed down the program 2 years later, these non revenue sports are irrelevant.  Yes I am a die hard fan and I want every USF team to win but that doesn’t mean I will care enough to even watch them so I would imagine most of the rest of the world has little interest as well.

This is one of the reasons, IMO, that USF is so far behind much older institutions. Almost all of the older, more established schools DO care about those fringe sports. Yes, they are cutting some today, 100% related to covid issues. Certainly not the level of FB and BB, but they do have backing from alumni and boosters.

No they don’t, no one at Alabama is watching women’s soccer with any real interest. Also, if football does not make money (including tv contracts) the rest of these sports don’t exist.

Never said, or even suggested, that football didn't run the show. But, the egotistical comment that no one, and I like the way you pick women's soccer in Alabama, cares about the other sports, is in my opinion a problem at USF. Of course coming from someone in Mass. I can can understand it.

Ok, men’s soccer, feel better? Of course coming from someone living in the state of Florida it makes sense you would think this is a USF problem. I can understand it.

BS, They don’t give a rats ass, FB and MBB stir the drink and the rest of the sports simply leech off of them to survive.  We are a huge school in Florida yet we dropped our swimming program shortly after winning a National Championship, if they don’t generate money then they need to go especially with the exploding cost of college.

It's one of the multitude of problems that comes with a relatively young, former commuter school located in a major sports market ...... imo, we don't have near enough "fans" that understand how the financing of college athletics works. I think this board is a good microcosm of our base.
