Would it make you feel better than the NCAA actually argued in a lawsuit in 2018 that student-athletes are not entitled to wages due to an exception to the 13th amendment (abolishment of slavery), that allows for not paying prisoner's a minimum wage for their work, and should also be extended to include student athletes? The NCAA argued that prisoners and student-athletes should be viewed as the same group when applying the 13th amendment carve out, essentially making them slaves but where the constitution allows for such an exception. The NCAA is asking the courts to expand the scope of what a slave is, to include student-athletes, and what rights they are not entitled to.

The argument is they are amateurs and are playing a sport voluntarily which is not work.  There is no employee, employer relationship is the crux of the argument.  However you do bring up a good point that FB is used to fund the other sports and Title IX exasperates the issue.  Should we eliminate Title IX and all sports that do not generate revenues and then share revenue with the athletes that participate in profitable sports?
