If AF was ever added to the conference, I have a hard time seeing where Navy would agree to a scenario where they would be in the opposite side of the conference due to the Conference Championship Game. They are only going to want to potentially play each other one time per season.

You think Navy and AF would be cool with potentially playing each other twice before the Army Navy game?

I could see Memphis and Tulane moved over to the East before Navy (if AF was involved).

If the AAC went to 14, you could have 6 division games, 3 cross division games with 1 being a permanent crossover game.  Then moving Navy to the east would work fine.

Because my son-in-law went to Quinnipiac I went to the Frozen Four finals at Amalie and let me tell you, those ND hockey fans filled the arena. So they at least travel in force for one sport.

Yep.  All they have is their College teams.  I think they have turned out very well for their football and basketball teams as well when they make the NCAA's.  The only thing they may root for professionally somewhat is the Minnesota teams.

Notre Dame? they are much closer to Chicago, maybe even Detroit, Cleveland and Indianapolis. Or is ND something else?

Personally, I think 16 is too much.

Nah, need to corner the market with the best G5 programs. If an AAC (14-16 team structure) team was the only "G5" that had any real chance of a ny6 bowl in the current system, then surely it would differentiate us from the pack. Right now we compete with the MWC for the bid, and it gives a tiny bit of credibility to the CFP system.

I do not believe Army will join a conference primarily because the Army-Navy game would then have to be played in the regular season. The game is intentionally played after the the championship games so they don’t have to share the spotlight with any other D1 game.

JMU...only 10% of the country has ever heard of it and 5% knows they even have a football team.

Which is only slightly higher numbers that USF.

Add App State as a football only school and call it a day. How many 10 win seasons must a school have to move up?

Always liked App St football and fanbase plus, had a place( wife from there) up there so geography was a plus. Problem is, Boone isn't near any major airports which would mean a pretty good bus trip for teams up the mountain. Not sure if schools from the AAC would want to do that due to safety potential. November/December games could be a real challenge. Boone small airport otherwise: Charlotte, Greensboro, Bristol, etc closest. That was the negative I always came up with when thinking about their potential to our conference.

Where there is a will there is a way, have them in separate divisions and have the game be an extra game not counting towards the championship standings following the conference championship, if by some miracle they are set to face in the conference championship have the game moved up a week and be the conference championship.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
