Realignment will move where the money is... It's moving away from cable subscribers an more towards individual schools and the fan bases they can bring.

Long-term, I see distributors like Google, Amazon, Netflix even ESPN and others charging two hundred dollars a season to watch our games. bigger fan bases will pull in more revenue, and schools like Rutgers lose even more value to a conference.

My opinion, but changes are coming, and that can only mean more opportunity for USF.

I would rather be USF than Iowa State long-term...

And this is why we were left out last time, and will be left out again. Other than the almost 7,000 of us in here and a few locals, nobody else on the planet cares enough to buy our tickets, merchandise, advertising, etc, etc

Our brand brings very little added value. So far.

Go Bulls!

But if you buy the tickets and you can’t get everyone of them filled you have to make sure you get every ticket scanned anyway, drive up that actual attendance.

This is next level 4d chess smart. We can put them in the visitor side so we look better on tv too. I know I’ve been on a huge complaining kick but how hard would it be to force people to film from the other side?

There are currently 65 p5 teams. In the p4 scenario, which 5 teams are not going to fight being eliminated so that 4 of us g5 can get a seat?  I just don’t see it happening.

I don't think any of that happens without some kicking and screaming from the current conference set up.  Someone posted a story about an Amazon (I think) exec. talking about how the streaming services would be forcing the next round of "realignment" because of the changing TV watching landscape.  I didn't sit down and count the number of teams in the conferences so I thought it was slightly under 64.  The "super conference" set up could fluctuate to 66 or 68 teams or whatever.  The key for me is that there is a set up that gives a realistic end of the season playoff.  You could leave the conferences the way they are and expand the playoffs to accomplish that or split the FBS up into separate levels.

If you go to the conference board the Memphis AD is saying the bidding floor is $8 mil. per team for the conference.

Then maybe it’s enough to have the majority of the conference to leave and join a select few from the Mountain West - Tulsa and Tulane can split the exit money. IMO Boise State and SDSU would make more money than they would in the MWC for two reasons - the AAC is more attractive product than the MWC and will be reflective in the next TV contract, and if Aresco raids other members of the MWC then Boise State and SDSU would stand to lose money. That alone would make the two jump so they are not even further behind other schools.

The bottom line is if the AAC is to thrive then the MWC needs to die.

The former Big East teams that make up the AAC should definitely invite SDSU and Boise. They’d join in a heartbeat.

Wow, deja vu.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
