Because ESPN didn't want them to expand to get enough teams to host one, so they changed the rules.

Seriously, after the great TV ratings, the (almost) great game (Dan Patrick on 620 this morning called USF - ufc the game of the year) and the rankings, have the Middle Florida combo opened any eyes in Big 12 (why do they have 10 teams?) as a showcase to future possibilities?

As much as I hate to tie our future to that Mickey Mouse team, the combo would seem enticing - performance, inroads to FL, markets, our academics, etc., etc. This made sense before of course but after that game makes even more sense.

wherever we end up (if we end up getting the move up)-- I think UCF is part of the equation. As much as I hate to admit it-- they are a natural rival for us. Were basically the same school separated by 90 miles. Never thought I would admit that. Tried like hell not to do it. But I cannot see one of these big conferences not wanting that type of rivalry/game added to their mix. If they need to split us into two division so all the teams have a Florida visit-- no problem. Big 12 seems like the one that makes the most sense-- they have no Florida presence. I think that is our best shot. No other conference that is close regionally makes any sense at this time.

I am probably repeating what many others have said. I don't think it happens any time soon. But we need to be ready when it does. PS-- The OCS situation is not a deal breaker-- we need to be able to host a certain size crowd (just like when we were in the Big East) and beyond that, who cares. Doesn't hold back Miami or Pitt-- why should it make a difference for USF?

The only thing I like about the B12 is the cash money and playing WVU again.  And going to Austin.

That would be two epic rivalries the B12 would be getting and a big Florida interest.  Not sure why they blew that decision.

We need the money--a bigger conference should be salivating at a UCF/USF package deal. Neither school has peaked yet, and we bring the most passion out of one another.
