You know, I know you are right but if that is the case, would the ACC not benefit from kicking out Wake?  Would the SEC not benefit from kicking out Vandy, etc.?

IMO, they would not. They like the academic production/profile of each school, as well as having a  in conference door mat, an easy win if you will. Replace them with  a team that can beat them? Not likely to happen, unless they bring a revenue slice that makes the pie so much larger that the per team take, improves.

Just my opinion.

I think Rutgers and Nebraska are more likely to get booted from the Big 10. Rutgers are definitely on thin ice

And didn't Nebraska lose their AAU status?

Nebraska isn't going anywhere. They print money for the Big 10 and their academics are top notch.

I will give u Nebraska but more so based on there athletic pedigree and not academics. I understand their removal from the AAU was due to a change in the how they calculate agriculture research funding.  Rutgers is an AAU school but does not seem to be competitive in any sport except womens basketball.

There aren't a lot of schools shuffling conferences these days because of their academics.

It doesn't matter.  Even if the Big Ten were to evict Rutgers and/or Nebraska, it would help us.  Even if we had AAU status, why would the Big Ten get someone on a geographic island?

Here's how I see realignment:

Best bet:  Big 12

Best fit:  ACC

Most likely:  Oklahoma and Texas leave (maybe with OK State and Texas Tech in tow) and teams from the Big 12, MW, and AAC form a revamped Big 12 or something different.

Something like this:

Big Mountain American Conference

West:  SDSU, Colorado State, Boise State, Nevada, TCU, Houston, Utah State, Air Force

East: USF, UCF,  Memphis, Kansas, Kansas State, WVU, Navy, UConn

I think the problem is all sports. Its nots cost effective to have a cross country conference.  I think a more likely scenario is the American taking the remaining six teams in the Big 12 and have Temple and Tulane bow out of the conference.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
