Here's the logic to what's going to happen (if the TV networks cough up enough money).

(1) The TV networks are going to pay less than what they would have to pay if the B12 expands; the TV networks win.

(2) The B12 top-feeder schools win. They get more money, while they wait it out. And everything regarding the conference stays the same. Those college presidents and their minions will say, "By the time something needs to change again, I'll be retired. Let the next person deal with it then!"

(3) The B12 bottom-feeder schools: the dumb ones, "More money without any work, goody!" The smart ones, "If we don't expand now, my school will be without a conference when the B12 dissolves in the future."

You've got at least 3 schools that will take the money and run. That leaves 7 schools and not enough votes to do anything, as 8 votes are needed.

Oklahoma -- top-feeder school

Texas -- top-feeder school

Oklahoma State-- top-feeder school

West Virginia

Baylor

TCU

Kansas State

Texas Tech

Kansas

Iowa State

I have a feeling that while, Oklahoma State may be a, "top feeder" in the Big 12, they'd get left out if Oklahoma and Texas bolt.  Texas is the real prize and I don't think any of the other P5 conferences will take Oklahoma if they are required to take Oklahoma State too.  Just my opinion.

Aresco should reach out to to WVU, TCU, Kansas, and K-State right now.  Let them know that when the Big 12 blows up that they have a landing spot.

Imagine the power this gives to say a WV or TCU....What you don't want to give me a fair share ?  How does a nine team conference sound to you guys ?  If they got the balls then they got the power.

Good point. Even though the GOR keeps them in place for now, these "minor 8" teams in the Big XII should make more noise about what's best for them. They're pinning their hopes on UT and OU extending the GOR instead of bolting, but that seems unlikely. If they threaten to take away UT and OU's backup plan ("we're leaving regardless of what you do") it might make things mighty uncomfortable for UT and OU. Yes, they could go independent in that case... well, good luck with that.

Those eight teams don't have the balls to override TU and OU. They are the little eight for a reason.

Couldn't agree with you more! They will ride the gravy train as long as possible.

It's about money. As long as they get more of it, they don't care what happened to get there, or how many teams are in the conference, or how far the athletes have to travel. They don't care if the conference makes the playoff or not. They only care about the playoff if it makes them more money.

Can we cross our fingers that if they removed the expansion payout terms but they also added USF? They could do both. Expand, get paid more, and then remove the expansion payout language moving forward.

i thought the idea was to have a legit championship game. doesn't this defeat the purpose?

Keep it at 10, keep playing round robin, have the top 2 teams play in a CCG would be them most legit championship game in the P5/G5 ...

Would be a great outcome.

The more I think about it, the lesser likely outcome is TX/OK to the Pac 12

TX/OK are pretty happy being the bosses of everybody else and wouldn't want to relegate themselves to "just another school" status which would be the price of entry to the P12

Also, the TX legislature will most likely mandate that TTech and Baylor (because all their grads are politicians) cannot be left behind or relegated if TX makes a move (T.Boone will probably ensure the same kind of legislative support for OKST)

This means there are 5 schools in the package, and neither the P12 nor the B10 (nor the SEC nor ACC, for that matter) want all 5. They only want TX/OK

TX/OK know they will be included in the P64 when it happens, regardless of what conference they're in at the time. And the worse the conference, the better their record. There's no reason for TX/OK to do anything at all to change the status quo.

It will take a revolt by all 8 remaining teams combined to override TX/OK with an 80% vote, and that's very unlikely to happen. All they need is one other vote and any initiative crashes and burns.

I predict nothing happens until P64 realignment. And when that happens, the P12/B12/SEC/ACC labels may be dropped completely as we get "pods" and divisions and new conference names entirely

Which could be good for our Bulls, since we should be able to dominate the AAC in FB, and compete strongly in all other sports, until then. We'll be one of the top three G5 candidates for P64

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
