^^ Texas Tech and Kansas are easily assured spots.

My comment is that the B12 is G5 without TX and OK. And there's not all that much RPI difference really, but when you look at the types of schools involved, the B12 is full of rural, land-grant schools, and the AAC is full of modern urban schools. B12 is past, AAC is future

If we're going to be stuck in the G5, would you rather be stuck with the current B12 schools (minus TX and OK), or stuck with the current AAC schools?

I say we stay in the AAC until the 4x16 realignment and make our jump then. Probably easier to jump into the 64 from AAC than B12. Iowa State, KU, K-state, and TT won't get invites, so that opens up a total of 14 slots. TX, OK, ND, plus TCU, BU, WVU, OKSt take 7, leaving 7 slots or so for current G5 schools

You make some logical points, but I'd rather move to the B12 now with UCF, Houston, and Cincy.  Make the $30 million for the next 8 years playing in a better conf.

^ this, worst case scenario, we end up right back where we are now with an extra $200 million or so.

They will when the P12 or SEC give them an actionable invitation

Would the SEC try to cockblock the P12 by trying to scoop both of them up? What if UT and OK are actually in triple secret back/closed smoky room talks to enter the ACC?

Misdirection? :lmao::icon_drink:

Look... the Big12 would be fine without UT and OU. No, it wouldn't be the same, but... Baylor, WVU, OkSt, TCU, USF, UCF, Houston, Texas Tech? Who doesn't think that is better than the AAC? You're lying to yourself if you say it's not.

The BE didn't fold when Miami, BC, and VaTech left. They were able to re-build, had some teams in the national spot light (us, WVU, Louisville). Hell, even UConn and Rutgers were holding their own. The BE folded when WVU, Rutgers, Cuse decided to bolt, followed by UL. The remaining members could keep the Big12 alive even without Texas and OU. Does that mean the same TV contract? Probably not, but, it would still be better than the AAC.

Bringing in the Florida teams gives the B12 access to 2 of the 3 best recruiting areas in the nation. With the remaining teams, there is still a lot of talent in the conference.

The BEast didn't fold when the first 3 left. However it greatly impacted/diminished its reputation as well stability.  It became a joke of the BCS conferences media-wise (which unfortunately is probably more important than overall actual performance).

The conference was never the same and was just a ticking time-bomb before its eventual breakup.

I don't fully agree here... In 2009, Cincy was ranked No. 3 in the AP at 12-0. They were ahead of 12-0 TCU, 13-0 Boise, and a 1-loss UF team. If there had been a playoff then, Cincy would have been in. Isn't that the goal?

In 2008, Cincy was 12 with 2 losses, Pitt was 20 with 3 losses. (going into the bowls)

2007 - 4 ranked teams going into bowls, WVU highest with 2 losses, USF, Cincy, UConn all ranked with 3 losses.

No, we were't the top of the food chain, but, as a conference, if any team had put together a complete season, we would have had a chance to play for a championship. I don't see how your argument holds any water when our very own team rose to No. 2. We were already in. Win out, and play for a championship. It was all in front of us and we blew it. The Big East didn't blow it (well, forward propulsion aside). We didn't take care of business, doesn't matter what conference you're in, specifically with no playoff, don't take care of business and you're out. Simple as that.

Even in 2007, it took all 3 losses to fall completely out of the rankings (even then, we were 26 in the AP). It's not like we were sitting at 2, lost 1 game and everyone bailed on us. We only dropped to 10 after losing to Rutgers. By contrast Mich St dropped 9 spots after their loss to Wisconsin this year in what is arguably the best conference.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
