Last week, Jeff Odom said there was no "buzz" regarding USF and the Big XII, but this article FWIW identifies USF (not UCF, interestingly enough) as the recipient of recent "buzz" due to WVU's concerns regarding Cincy.

Whom should I believe?

No one, media has no clue what's going on. Jeff is trying his best to find anything, as are countless other media outlets; it's kind of their job. The Big 12 doesn't even know where he is is coming from and different Member Universities could be having different buzz levels for different Candidates universities.

Agreed. Nevertheless, it doesn't appear that UH has the votes. I take the State of Texas governor at his word and therefore conclude that there will be no expansion.

Get ready for a bumpy ride!

So far, they've been as correct in this thing as anyone else.

So...after mulling this over for the past 3 days............

Our loss to FSU was not that bad in reference to B12 expansion.  Probably a neutral or status quo as far as our bid.  Winning would have brought a lot of press, but it was not meant to be.

Everyone in the Big 12 would have lost to FSU by the same score Saturday.  And most by a lot more than 20.  That's a fact.  If you doubt this, you weren't paying attention.  FSU was not losing Saturday...to anyone.  According to SI, there still is some buzz about adding USF.  In fact in the article, 3 programs were mentioned as potential adds.  Houston, Cincinnati, and USF.  That's it.  I don't think there is any doubt now, that we are in the top 4-5 candidates.

We showed we can have a crowd of 61,000, and showed we can come out in force for the student section.  Yeah, we got blown out, but there is still a lot of good going on with USF's football program.

On the down side, everything I read says the B12 is turning against expansion, so we may be stuck in a good, but undervalued AAC for a while longer.

Probably for the best, need to beef up our resume and get further away from the lost half decade. Big 12 isn't looking at any one game either, no matter how much the media wants to swing it that way. I'm glad some posters are coming around; a lot of P5 teams get smoked by FSU regularly.

Meh, we got owned on D, but we scored 35 on a very fast team and ended up losing by 20. Embarrassed at home? Yes, but it wasn't like we got shut out.

I'll hate this game forever, but if this FSU team played against our 2013 or 2014 team, we would all have crawled under a rock ... okay, even farther under that rock than we already were.

Is Big 12 Expansion Falling Apart?  by Christopher Lambert (dude of WV?)

http://landgrantgauntlet.com/2016/09/26/is-big-12-expansion-falling-apart/

Quote

Big 12 expansion seems to be on life support and nothing could make ESPN and Fox happier. They would almost be better off by offering the conference a new deal and more money to ditch the pro-rata clause and not expand.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
