I read somewhere that in the last big 12 expansion, the finalists included BYU and Tulane.. Maybe they both go this time.

Go Bulls!

Tulane? :lmao: I didn't know baseball was driving this round of expansion.

And wasn't it Tulate that destroyed the former Big East when the conference had football? I think when Tulate signed up, the basketball schools got mad and went their way...

I hope I was totally wrong in my analysis earlier.

I don't understand the concept of Cincinnati being WVU's "travel partner." Do they intend to share plane rides and split hotels with WVU or something? What benefit does having a conference member close to WVU bring to the other conference members? More importantly, how does it benefit UT? Would the other conference members really try to appease WVU by putting somebody else out there on their island? It's not like WVU has the option to leave.  That was made obvious prior to their admittance into the B12.

That being said, Cincinnati has built a solid sports program, and is in a large market and fertile recruiting ground. Their fans are pretty good, but they are still overshadowed in that market by tOSU just like UF/FSU still dominate Tampa and Orlando.

I too have long wondered this but I think I've figured it out. It has nothing to do with football. It just means for relatively smaller sports like basketball or tennis you can take a road trip and knock out two games when traveling up to WVU. You would then stay overnight and go play a Cincinatti (or whoever)

This is what McM said. Started out by talking UCF and then said B12 should pair USF and UCF.

On UCF:  "Promising program. Sexy Florida program, can get into the state of Florida recruiting-wise. For a team that went 0-12 last year, they get a lot of buzz. The Orlando market obviously is a positive. That’s good. Negative: You’re kind of out on an island like West Virginia. It doesn’t help West Virginia to add UCF because it’s not really on the way to the other group of Big 12 schools. I really think the best chance for UCF to get in is if the presidents decide they want the Florida market. And then I think UCF and USF both have the best chance. … I would be surprised if they add just one of them. If you add both of them, you would guarantee one game in Florida every year, you would open up the Florida recruiting area to the whole Big 12, so I kinda pair them together.”

All of a sudden I like BM a smidge better today than I did yesterday.

^ You mean about UCF being a "sexy" program, right?  The sexiest 0-12 team ever.

Although, donuts ARE kinda sexy...

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
