Big 12 to add title game in 2017 & league likely will split into two 5-team divisions & continue round-robin format

It's like a slow motion implosion of the Big 12. Title game added, but no new teams. Oklahoma and TCU's in conference schedule last season would go for naught they way I understand the round-robin format would work.

I may be in the minority here, but i really hope the AAC can stick together, and the Big12 doesn't expand. This is a quility conference with quality teams, we just need to be recognized as one. I think we earn significantly more money when we redo our tv deal, and we will separate ourselves from the rest of the G4

Are you sure you didn't hear Fed Ex's corporate HQ would be hosting the championship game? :FIREdevil:

It's amazing that we got that information without a beat writer at the meetings.

Kinda wish we were in a better situation currently than we are.  We have to jump at the Big 12 If the invite comes, (be a fool not too, due to money, being in a power conference, ect...) But wish it were another Power conference that was looking to expand.   The Big 12 seems disorganized, like the OLD Big East, Too many people (Texas looking out for themselves and not the conference)(like the catholic BB schools used to do, along with Pitt and Cuse).

Something tells me that the Big 12 is unstable and will be for the unforeseeable future as long as Texas holds all the power. What happens if they expand, than in a few years Texas decides to bolt for another conference( which would start of the Power 4) Like some have predicted?  Oklahoma will find a home, but schools like Iowa, Kansas, K state and others wont.  Would that conference without Texas and Oklahoma be better than the current AAC?   I think the AAC is much stronger in this scenario.

With that said, of course we take the invite and the money, hoping to maintain or move to a better conference in the future.

Klystron 9 is the most advanced weather radar in the world. We don't actually need to be anywhere near the meetings to pick up the news.

The condescension comes from the fact that the Big XII knows that we'll always be available.

I know it's highly unlikely it could ever happen, but if the AAC could somehow negotiate a reasonably valuable TV deal and get its member institutions to sign a GOR for say, five to seven years, the conference would have more stability (and likely possibly more value) than it does now.  The whole would be greater than  the sum of its parts.

Given time to mature I continue to believe the AAC, as presently configured, could compete with at least the ACC and the Big XII.  In many respects, we already do - AAC schools just aren't getting paid the same.

The McDonald's near my house would have a solid workforce too if it got all of its employees to sign a contract stating they wouldn't leave for a better job for 5-7 years.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
