I disagree.  One of the reasons (in my opinion) that we haven't seen USF mentioned even more that we have is that we don't have a local guy combing the B12 for quotes like Cincinnati has.  An anonymous Big 12 source is naturally going to give answers based upon the questions he is asked.  So if a reporter asks about UCF, Memphis, or Cincinnati, naturally the answers are going to be tailored to those schools.  We have nobody locally digging for info on B12 expansion as it relates to USF.  No one.

So your concern isn't whether or not USF is actually going to get into the Big 12, you would just like a Tampa based reporter there for someone to nod at and say, "We're exploring all our options..."

No, I would like a Tampa reporter actually digging into B12 expansion from a USF point of view (which hasn't been done), and actually getting off the record quotes from Big 12 sources as it relates to USF...something all the other papers have managed to get.  You know, a thing called "reporting".  By us not having any reporting or coverage, it makes it look like we're not under consideration to the general public. 

Chuck Carlton from the Dallas Moring News was able to get info from a Big 12 source that USF would be considered as a pairing along with UCF...why can't local guys get that info.

This seems to be your bigger issue. Because anyone who even marginally follows college sports knows we are definitely in consideration regardless of what's being made public.

@mikefinger That's the dilemma. Do you go east for UConn-Cincy? West for BYU-CSU? South for UCF-USF? Or wait for something better.

But part of the problem is the lack of a consensus on candidates, the source said. If the Big 12 looks east, there's Cincinnati and UConn, long mentioned as possibilities. If the Big 12 looks west for BYU, then Colorado State makes sense as well. Or the conference could take a deep dive into the Sunshine State with Central Florida and South Florida.
