Rumor has it from UCFers is that the research firm hired by the B12 said that UCF is the top rated addition. A big part of that is the Orlando media market's size. Anyone able to lend this ridiculous sounding statement any credibility?

Probably most impressive figure there was us leading the non-BYU contendahs in the 2010-15 attendance figures, where half of that time span was 3 of the worst years, on the field, in our history ..

I'd love to see the stats from 2015-16. Can't wait to see them when we complete 2016-17.

Other than the Disney/ESPN connection there's probably not one.

The market size argument makes as much sense for UCF as it does for us, and frankly it's why both teams need to be added. There's plenty of room to grow, and I'm not sold on Florida's return to prominence until they can keep a quality QB on the field. Grier had it, but as soon as he went off the field UF went down the tubes. Same with Miami-they will surely be better than last year, but need to see a lot more from them before we can declare they're back.

Even then-a power conference USF and UCF will be able to make waves in this market. USF from 2006-2010 and UCF from 2010-2013 proved this.

Any idea of what speculation regarding Orlando's media market size versus Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater/Sarasota's make it more appealing? USF plays in the bigger media market:

WVU AA just went on ESPN to say that the playoffs should be expanded to eight and this would end all of the conference additions for the Big 12. He says that he favors the conference stays at 10 unless two teams can come in to challenge for the championship on day one.

...says the AD of a school that's never finished higher than 5th and has done absolute zero to advance the conference since joining.

Seems to me that if G5 teams had meaningful access to the playoff (say, highest ranked G5 team gets one automatic slot in a bracket of 8), that would disincentive pressure to expand in P5 conferences.  But, I think the P5 conferences like the exclusivity of being a P5, so even if we had a 8-team bracket, there will never be an auto-slot for a G5 team.  Just because.
