Thats the rendering from one of the developers who wanted to build up on the golf course if i'm not mistaken. And in return they would build us that 30k stadium

Edit: yup https://wusfnews.wusf.usf.edu/environment/2021-06-03/usf-receives-eight-proposals-to-develop-forest-preserve

It is Wednesday afternoon.  Is there really an announcement coming this week?

I'm not so concerned about hearing anything this week.  I hope some real thought is put into the next move.

By the time we have a stadium, there will have been so many changes/opportunities.  The real P4 will make moves too.  I don't think it's necessarily a good thought to think we're Big 12 candidates only and dress only for that ****show.

Think big, please.

I believe the current agreement with Tampa Sports Authority runs through the 2023 season, which would set up for a September 2024 stadium opening. The agreement requires a 24 month termination notice, so USF would need to do something with that in the near future. 3 years would be sufficient time to allow for the construction of the stadium.

And when the Bucs build a new stadium, we can rent ours to them :)

Oh 2024 would be perfect. Open the stadium with Louisville, a P5 team we have some history with. Then have NC State come in a few weeks later. With Alabama on the road sandwiched in between, those would be an electric few weeks for the fanbase. But unless they open up a line item to donate to soon and donations go better than expected I have a hard time seeing it built that soon.

2025 is a nice consolation to open with Boise though.

This is how Arizona State funds everything from stadium renovations to the latest in social engineering.  They are fortunate to have prime campus real estate in their portfolio and will sell it off in a heartbeat.  In fact, sold off real estate currently hosting sports venues.  More money in the open market.

"The Sun Devils began playing at Phoenix Muni in 2015 after which Packard Stadium was redeveloped to help pay for improvements to Sun Devil Stadium."

They also ditched their on campus golf course for a development deal...

Baseball and golf now play off campus and they are renovating football stadium and lining pockets.

Sounds like you need better sources. 😉

Wouldn't be surprised if they were wrong... Don't know how in the know they are on this. Don't want to get anyone in trouble 😆

Hoping they're wrong as I said though, the sooner the better!
