Neither is Ray Jay to the USF campus

But it is less than 11 by car. It may be less than 10 as the crow flies.

Why does that sound a lot like - "Just wait til next year...again"?

You can still Uber to the OCS from your house!  Assuming you don’t live on campus still at this point in your life

We did that ONCE! In Memphis, ubering to the game is awesome! Takes you right up to the stadium. However, leaving is the biggest pain in the butt. We had to walk about 5-6 blocks. While waiting you can see where your uber ride is on the phone. 30-40 minutes waiting, "Alright, he's only 4 blocks away and POOF! the car disappears. Call again, 20ish minutes, same thing. But, as they say, 3rd times a charm. ONLY an hour+ waiting for one to actually get to us.

This is so true.  Our campus is beautiful, and it would be a great place to host real games and a "true" game day homecoming parade.

Yes, our campus is beautiful for sure. I even think it’s way better than Michigan’s (it’s spread of Ann Arbor which I think ruins it). The stadium really does change the university experience. Even walking past Spartan stadium you get a sense of pride. You rarely see people wearing other school colors on campus, that was thing thing that bothered me going to USF, too many UF, FSU and Mia gear. The stadium would help change that (it is a crown jewel for campuses).

This is the saddest part. I had good friends go to Michigan State (I know it’s one of the best and has a lot of history, but…), and that campus and experience is unbelievable. Even in the 90’s and early 00’s when they weren’t that good at football, students would wake up and tail gate/party before the games even if they didn’t have tickets. The campus is always alive and activities were happening everywhere. When I was going to USF in ‘06, there was always the talk of shedding the “commuter” school image; the OFS would go along way to changing that; it’s sad it’s taking so long because the campus is really nice and there is a lot of potential. The college experience is way more important than academics for any student. I also don’t want my kids going to USF because this, it really does matter.

I went to the Michigan State game when we played them.  It was a cool experience on campus.  Also, there was so much Green and White that it was quite pleasing.

Then why the **** didn’t they just do that years ago instead of crying about how they can’t win because they don’t have an IPF?

Because the trolls to the west of us weren’t in front of us.  It’s crystal clear why they are forced to act now

My bad, didn't see your comment until after I said the same thing.

I grew up in Miami and they NEVER had an on campus Stadium and still won many National titles. Hell their current stadium is like 30-45 min drive from campus.

Yeah and since they moved into that stadium, attendance has gone down and the program is mediocre. Miami also has more in state name recognition than USF has at this point. Not even remotely close to being the same thing.

Assuming most of you rec'd the season ticket 25 year Anniversary book. Read the article starting on p16 for a pretty good look back as to what set USF back in athletics/football.  Others have pointed it out here in the past but reading the timeline was interesting.

Meant to quote Selluar1, haha.

Let’s play a game “how irrelevant is this conversation about Miami?”

5 schools play in NFL stadiums; Miami, Temple, Pittsburgh, SD State and USF

9 schools have to travel 5 miles or more for a football game; UCONN, Miami, UCLA, UTSA, Hawaii, USF, UNLV, South Alabama and Temple

In the last 20 years, only 10 different schools have won the Natty (Miami being one of them)

In the last 40 years, only 19 different schools have won the natty (Miami being one of them)

In the last 83 years how many teams listed above have won a Natty? 1, just Miami.

Essentially, there are a limited number of schools who win a National Championship (which is why it’s irrelevant to compare ourselves to national champions as some level of success) and Miami is the one outlier (especially when noted that the “U” was a very special case of the city/region/culture getting behind the team, not just for the school and students) that plays off campus. From the teams listed above, there are no football powerhouses or even programs we want to emulate; which leads us back to the OCS being important for football culture, atmosphere, pride, prestige, student excitement, and Alumni reunion and traditions. Seems like a simple answer to me.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
