Why would I wait a year? If your improvements do not result in measurable success then they aren’t improvements and they should be changed.

It doesn’t require a lot of data to recognize when you are trending down and require course correction, why would anyone take an entire year to pivot just in case the current path actually miraculously becomes the right path? Improvement should be directionally correct and measurable almost immediately especially if you are starting in a bad situation as there should be a lot of low hanging fruit you can improve on immediately. If anyone says their problem is culture it means I have no idea what I’m supposed to do and this will buy me some time I hope. Win and the culture changes and people buy in to your changes, make bad changes that make more  failure and people don’t buy in. That’s  not because of culture that’s because people want to be a part of success and you are not finding it.

I’m sure I have some of my own in power points but they are only going to be marginally different. Agile, 6sigma and lean have a pretty good track record on making improvements and not taking three years to do so and that they are pervasive should only speak to their success. You observe your biggest problems, you implement the fixes to them you measure their improvements and then you make new improvements based on your new observations. If you are making improvements you should be able to observe it on any part of the path and if you are seeing negative results it’s because you made a change which =\= an improvement.

I really don’t take offense to anything on here as how serious can anything about college athletics be in the grand scheme of things? I just know how improvement works in every other facet of my life so I’m always confused why people think this is the one thing in life where you have to go backwards to go forward and improvements actually appear to be negative for years at a time until one day they magically become positive. You can’t make improvements to abstract things like culture, you find the most glaring actual issues and you address them and when you make positive improvements to the granular things people see the results, buy in and the culture naturally improves. People always want to come up with slogans and values that they post on the wall but unless you are actually being the change you want to see people just laugh at them and your culture continues to plummet. If anyone is a bad culture fit on a one win team they are probably the kind of players you actually need to develop a winning culture.

No, thinking CWT should be let go during the middle of his 3rd year was way more nonsensical, considering what transpired later.

In your patented histrionic way, you wrote Willie off before his 2nd season was complete ....

I do think the majority of you are right that Kelly lets him work through the 5th year.

That's @puc86 who rails against guys after their first year. I think 4 years is a reasonable period of time to figure out who this guy is. All Year 5 is going to be is confirmation of what we have already seen.

You've been railing against him since the middle of  year 2 ..... I'm like an elephant ... I don't forget .... even if you do change your name

You know who you are dealing with Chapel.....Don't let him get a rise out of you.

But, I'm kind of enjoying watching you kick his ____.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
