In his 2nd year after having to completely turning over the roster and taking the RPI from 293 to 104 in that one year .......... and I keep sounding like a broken record because someone keeps downplaying what was done that year.

There are really only like 1 or 2 people on here that don't think that Gregory deserves at least another year.  Its not worth the fight!

More like one...I don’t see how he does not deserve one more year. However, if I was a betting man right now, I would say he is going to come up short of getting into the top 5 in the conference and at least an NIT bid (which I think is a fair benchmark).

I think thats fair.  Lets see to get into the Top 5, we have to be ahead of at least one of these teams:

Houston, Memphis, Cincinnati, Wichita State and another team possibly UCF, Tulane, Tulsa.

I think that's a reasonable goal.  But won't necessarily be easy.

That's @puc86 who rails against guys after their first year. I think 4 years is a reasonable period of time to figure out who this guy is. All Year 5 is going to be is confirmation of what we have already seen.

No, thinking CWT should be let go during the middle of his 3rd year was way more nonsensical, considering what transpired later. I do think the majority of you are right that Kelly lets him work through the 5th year. That's Kelly's style - give you every opportunity to fail. The guy is patient, I will give him that.

I'm just not sure how he sniffs .500 next year with what will be left of this roster. Maybe without Collins around, Gregory won't have that crutch to lean on late in games and it will force him to find new ways to get the team over the finish line. Maybe, as great as Collins was for Gregory early on in his tenure, he did become that crutch for Gregory to rely on even later when it was broken.

That's about as hopeful as I can be under the circumstances.

Why would I wait a year? If your improvements do not result in measurable success then they aren’t improvements and they should be changed.
