A veteran like Johnson should already know how to carry the football. Much of this is on the players.

For sure careless

Looking for someone a little more in tune with modern college offenses. Not a coordinator from 30 years ago.

Bowden retired when he realized the game had changed.

Weis very well may come into his own, but he needs help  right now and right now I see him trying to fit players into his offense, not the other way around as is needed.

Most guys interested in mentor gigs are pretty old.

I would also argue that though there is more eye candy these days. A lot of the same principles still apply today as they did 30 years ago.

Bowden retired when he figured out that he didn’t want to keep up anymore, not when the game passed him by.

Case in point, when properly utilized, the Veer can be just as effective today at the collegiate level as when it was developed in the 1960s

Mack Brown seems to be doing okay at U N C

Even a guy who has been dead for two years would be better than some of the zombies that we have had the past couple of weeks

I am the first to say it will take a couple of years for this staff to get kids here that can execute the system the coaches want to run and maybe that is how long it took Mack Brown to get the system they are running at UNC to click. That being said, they are trying to run a system similar to what Oklahoma runs. They are pushing the ball up the field.

They also have a 220lb feature back and the smaller back is 200lbs.

2 differences between Brown at UNC and what we have:

     *  Brown was always flexible in adapting the offense to the personnel

*  UNC has an experienced OC.

So maybe it's a personnel issue or maybe Weis and Scott or learning on the job.

Give CJS time.... We are judging a new coaching staff, with almost zero recruiting and "pre-season" coaching.... Let the chips fall where they may... reps your colors and enjoy the fact we have our team on TV and a bright future...

I really don't remember what I was responding to but think it may have been about getting retread, older guys in. Mack is an older guy.
