Just speculating... So the Big 10 was the first to jump into the pool attempting to assert themselves as leader of the P5, the cowardly PAC 12 immediately followed suit, there was no chance they would be allowed to play and most are probably protesting/rioting anyway.  Anyhow, the other three SEC, ACC and B12 said screw you, we're not following, which also these days is a great virtue according to the political class (follow, don't lead).  My guess is if it looks like the P3 will actually get games in, the Big 10 will look to somehow change their position.  They'll claim they followed the science, but there was a flaw (not their fault).  Of course, the time to reverse their decision is short.  Would love to see the coaches continue to push their leaders to be fully accountable for their decisions.

Your last point is most important...time. If those who have dropped out want to reverse themselves they will need to do so no later than two weeks from now. Their hubris is strong however, and I wonder if they will ever admit they made a mistake. Interesting is that the parents of the Big10 players have created a petition to let their kids play. Once the mama’s get involved it can cause a mighty amount of conflict.

The interesting thing will be to see the sub-plots within the conferences as the season progresses - specifically in the ACC which crosses a broad spectrum of political regions

Pennsylvania currently suggests a 2 week quarantine for anyone coming from Florida and Pitt is scheduled to make two trips here

Syracuse is scheduled to go to Georgia Tech and currently would be under a mandatory quarantine upon their return

Every single rule lacks enforcement and has any loopholes anyone would like to use to avoid following them ie Syracuse just had to be there for less than 24 hrs in which they don’t have to quarantine because everyone knows you can’t can’t catch Covid unless you go to another state for 24hrs and one minute.

Do politicians returning from other states get quarantined?

So getting a test that is reliable and real-time is going to be a game change. I feel like I have heard this a lot. The test have reliability issues and take days to weeks to get back.

There are already multiple methods available for tests with an hour or less turnaround time. Cepheid for example. If the conferences say that a new, quick turnaround test makes their decision, they did not do their homework the first time. Or.... They realized the information upon which they based their initial decision was flawed/incomplete/biased/etc.

Exactly.  This is why everyone out here knew the California-dominated PAC-12 had no chance.  Optics are not science, they are political.

Nailed it.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
