That is the reason they won’t play, too many players would either sit out or play half the season and then sit to regain an extra year of eligibility.  The late season games on a losing team would probably be played with walk ons.  In addition, sitting out and contacting the virus the players  will allege they contracted the virus from current players which was negligent by the University and players will see dollar signs, like mentioned many times before they need the practices to evaluate talent and get the new system in place.  CJS knows this as well and that is the reason he is going to scrimmage the guys on Sat, if he thought they were going to play he would never have them scrimmage this early.

Interesting theory, I have nothing to credit it or discredit it. 2020 is a wild ride and anything is possible.  Once the media outlets decide what they want, they will start pushing their agendas.

Better question...if you opt out, yet contract Coronavirus at a house party, does USF still test and care for you?  You can still sue.  Crappy deal for the USF.  They can't say it, but I can.

Excellent question, the student could always say they caught anywhere without definitive proof on where they caught it. I thought McDoom and Gill would bring that P5 talent this year.

this early? In normal times the season would be starting in 2 or 3 weeks.

They started practicing 7 days ago, is this normally the time you run a full scrimmage? seems early, he needs to figure out what he has and attempt to cut bait on some of the dead weight before they shut it down.

I guess we will have to wait another year for Thomas Nance to show us what he has, per @gatorbull he is the the best thing since sliced bread.

I am betting Nance never takes the field again.

Yea this is early for a scrimmage...smart of Scott to see early what he is working with and what area is a priority for team.

Very strong point especially after the ECU party your brains out episodes. But, these guys should be expected to do a specific program of workout/position practice regime throughout the season not....just lay out at home. They can do some form of isolation program. My guess looking at the list: 2-3 of these guys wont play beyond this point when all said and done.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
