Big 4 Athletic Budgets

I'll admit I was a little off-base and over the top in some of my comments.

All I was trying to say is everything will be looked at as a whole.

Nobody can take away what we have done on the field of play working on such a limited budget, and I will be right up front when it comes to saying we at least should be looked at when talking about the stronger programs in the state, but when taking the little things into account (travel, painting the field, etc) some of the things we do (or don't do) will still be viewed as second-class.

This "we cant afford it" crap is just that, crap. What are we saving here? $5000? Come on.

Now, let's say we put our players on the 40 MINUTE plane to Miami and avoid the post-car ride "BLAH"(everyone knows what I'm talkin about). Then with the extra energy....that extra something that they had to dig down deep for, they beat Miami.

With that win, it VAULTS us into the national media(You thought THIS week was nice?!). The win VAULTS us ahead of Miami in some recruits minds. The win VAULTS us into the hearts of some on-the-fence fans in the Tampa Bay areea.

In summary: we get tv time tv time tv time, we take away blue chip recruits, and we gain fans....which means $$$$$.

And all of this because we spent $5000.

(PS - the players wont be the ones loading and unloading their equipment on the planes. So stop with all that. TIME-WISE, it may take the same amount of time - i severely doubt it - but comfort wise, the difference is leaps and bounds.)

But let's say our budget is REAL tight ...

Spend the extra money for a plane trip.

OR

Spend it on the painting of the field.

Which would give the nation/viewing audience a better perspective of first class ?

Well, we've had 3 home games so far and ZERO of them have been painted. Based on my $5000 example, that's $15000 saved which would be plenty enough for a plane ride.

I personally like the bus trip.  I think it will make our guys come out even more fired up.  BTW, they aren't going to be traveling down via bus on Saturday.  They'll get a solid night of sleep in MIA on Friday and be ready to go on Saturday.  I'm hoping the bus trip will bring these guys even closer than they already are.  They should refocus on the drive and be loaded for bear (again) come Saturday.  

Don't get me wrong, I still think a lot of what takes place (no E-zone painting, etc) makes us look a bit cheap, but as I've said before, winning brings $$$, which can be spent to create more winning, which brings more $$$, etc..........
