They're all Pat Julmiste until they aren't

To his credit though, he did come into the bowl game after Matt went down and played well enough...but yeah these new guys will have to get it done in a game first.

Loved Pat Julmiste. Always remember him steamrolling a linebacker in an early ooc game .... and we may have beaten PSU if he'd started .... but Lord help us if any of the 3 aren't better than him.

Former Berkeley Prep star Jacob Mathis now at USF

With a short Brett Kean toss into the end zone Tuesday, the curtain was pulled back on one of the most furtive developments of fall camp at USF.

Snagging the pass in single coverage was new Bulls TE Jacob Mathis, the former four-star prospect from Berkeley Prep whose name doesn't appear on the team roster.

Yet within moments of the catch, in the waning stages of the Bulls' first full-pads workout, school officials confirmed Mathis has joined the team. He arrives from Ole Miss, where he spent the previous two seasons without ever logging game action.

Whether he's eligible immediately remains unclear, though the prospects are encouraging. In the wake of NCAA-imposed sanctions on Ole Miss' program late last year, several Rebels transfers have been cleared to play immediately at their new schools.

Yeah, anyone remember what happened after Blackwell and before Grothe?  I think I got my gray hair from the Julmiste years....

You are correct that we are inexperienced, and I am not saying that we are going to put up 65 on elon, but we have 3 returning starters on a very deep offensive line. If those guys can give whoever ends up being the starting QB some time, the experience factor will be minimal. If they can be comfortable in the backfield and not be forced to rush throws, I think the offense will be just as dangerous, if not more, than in the prior year.

Again, not knocking on QF. He was (and is) one of my favorite players and also one of the best players to ever don the green and gold. However, Gilbert's offensive style did not fit QF's qb style, and it showed.

How exactly did it show?

Although the NCAA makes decisions like a monkey trying to copulate a football, I Can’t see anyway he will not be eligible this year. Of course our QBs will have a do a decent job in throwing to them.

Look at QF in 2016 under Taggart vs QF last year. He was still good last year, but nothing like he was in 2016. Taggart ran an offense that was essentially fast paced and wide open, compared to Gilbert who called a slower paced offense and liked to keep things in the middle. This resulted in QF having to stay in the pocket longer. QF is not a pocket passer. The QB's we have now are more of a pocket passer, and I think it will be a benefit for us this year.

Excellent point! I have a sneaky suspicion that the QB in terms of total passing yards will be better this year.

Just an FYI, CCS said at the Bulls Rally on Sunday that the new guy has some wheels for a big guy.
