Geeze PJ seems like a lot of fun to be around...

He seems more bothered than Leavitt by questions.

A lot of comments about the GT wide receivers that is off point.  Tech recruits big guys for WR because they have to block a lot in the option run game.  They do not have to have blinding speed because of the way they are used in the passing game is very different than a pro style WR.  When Tech throws to the WR it is usually a result of the corner cheating in to cover the run.  Tech will play option with the keys looking like Tech will pitch to the edge.  Our WR can be 15-20 yards beyond the corner while the safety is covering the A-back lined up in the slot.  When it works, it is usually for 40+ yards.

BTW, we also throw a lot to the A-backs.  Clinton Lynch and Qua Searcy are dangerous receivers.  Their primary function is to block on the edge, so the safety and corner on that side are not expecting either to run past them.  Both of these guys can fly, so once past the completed pass is quite often for a touchdown.

But, we won't throw as much as USF.  You had better get used to seeing KirVonte Benson (#31) bulling (I had to use it) his way for 6-9 yards right up the gut.  You have to find a way to stop that play (it's actually a whole menu of plays with various blocking schemes and footwork) or you will be looking at a very long and frustrating evening.  Go to YouTube and watch the GT-FSU game in the 2014 ACC Championship or the GT-Miss State game in the Orange Bowl that same season.  That will give you an idea about the dive play and what it can do to a defense.

Our fans worry more about whether our new defense will be better than the old defense.  The bend but don't break concept was not serving us well and most of us are ready to see this new attacking D in action.  My wife is an App State grad, so she & I have seen this D in action under Coach Woody's direction.  It can be very disruptive.  That is the same D used by Virginia Tech last night.  The change in style really confused the FSU offense and what they hoped to do against the old power D employed by VT in the past.

Tech seems like a decent team and is flexing quite a bit more into spread concepts on offense.  Coach PJ doesn't seemed pleased about playing us and definitely has that nervous tell with crossing his arms.

This is a very interesting match up for me. You guys are going to to want to bring pressure which will either go very good or very bad for us. On one hand from the limited action we've seen from BB he can make all the throws and get the ball down the field accurately. If you guys are playing a ton of man behind that pressure we're going to have opportunities to get our big fast wide outs in 1 on 1 situations down field or get the ball out quick to McCants who is a load to bring down and a YAC monster. The question becomes can our line give BB the extra second we need to get the ball out. If I was Gatech I would do it more zone blitzing hoping to confuses our front and maybe even BB since he hasn't has much time as a starter at this level.

I really enjoy hearing him and people reacting to him on the sports radio up here.
