According to former NFL tight end George Wrighster III via Twitter, Willie Taggart will be the next head coach at Florida State University. The rumors have finally been put to bed and now Oregon is searching for their second head coach in less than 12 months. Apparently, Jim Leavitt will stay on board for the bowl game.

Next man up for Oregon.

Willie Taggart to be the next head coach of FSU.

It’s still #GoDucks though.

FSU supposedly offered Taggart a five-year deal worth upwards of $35 million. The two parties met in Arizona while Taggart was recruiting for Oregon. According to multiple sources, they spent most of the day discussing the terms of his contract, etc.

Following a coaching search that ended with Taggart being introduced as the Ducks’ lead man on December 8, 2016, Athletic Director Rob Mullens will have to construct another list of candidates to begin the process again.

Taggart was offered a five-year, $20 million deal with incentives by Oregon last week. Apparently, it was not enough alongside the opportunity to move back home to Florida.

The one-and-done head man led Oregon to a 7-5 season with a Las Vegas Bowl appearance. He had begun a culture change that was highlighted by the No. 6 recruiting class for 2018. In this climate of college athletics, nothing is promised.

We will have plenty more on Taggart’s exit plus extensive coverage on Oregon’s next coaching search. For the time being, it is business as usual for the team as they prepare for No. 25 Boise State (10-3) on Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile...three hours ago. LOL

Just landing in Vegas. Full night ahead and early morning! Quick stop here than on to Colorado. So much to be thankful for. God gave me passion, I'm going to use it always! Go Ducks!

What will Jim do now?

Looks like he will coach Oregon in their bowl game.

I hope they win and he is offered the HC job @Oregon.

Then Taggart won't have CJL to bail him out on defense at FSU.

At some point, he may wind up back at USF just like edsall did at UCONN. LOL

I've been hearing some talk about UCF possibly hiring Toledo HC Jason Candle. If they do, he will bring along his RB coach....Former USF GREAT QB Marquel Blackwell!!!

http://utrockets.com/news/2016/3/8/football-marquel-blackwell-named-running-backs-coach.aspx

I would hate to see MB end up there. He would be a great recruiter for them.

Toledo had a very good year, going 11-2 in the MAC.

They score a bunch of points, so I can see why UCF would be interested in him.

Ironically, Josh Newberg tweeted this last year before we hired CCS:

What about Toledo's Jason Candle for the USF job? He also has USF legend Marquel Blackwell already on his staff.

Someone at UCF must want Jason Candle pretty badly to screw around with his Wiki page. LOL

Jason Candle would be a good hire but I still prefer Neal Brown. Would rather have either than CCS honestly

RE: Taggart...

Is the national championship an easier path from FSU or UO? I feel like with his recruiting class, getting through a PAC12 schedule undefeated and in the playoffs is easier than at FSU.

If his goal when he left USF was truly to win a national championship (and specifically to be the first minority coach to do it), which is the better option? I'm not sure that it's FSU either with Miami on the rise, Clemson dominating, UF on the schedule every year, etc...

Does he feel like he can't get the talent in Oregon to compete with Bama, OSU, Clemson, etc...

If the Jim is coaching in the Vegas Bowl than I will definitely be there. It’ll be his first game was a head coach(with or without the interim) since he was fired here.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
