I get it was FIU and he went to Bama afterward as an assistant but I don't think Cristobol will do well at Oregon. Oh well, Leavitt will be joining Tags in Tally I suppose. Maybe next year he'll finally get that second chance he deserves.

Wow. This is the guy I wanted us to hire when Taggart left, or in the case of Strong being hired away. He has proven to be a great recruiter. Wonder if he will keep the GCO in place at Oregon...

I also thought Cristobal was worth a serious look.

Think it has more to do with an offense guy being the main face of organizations.  Jim's D is usually very good. I know we have CS and Tenn hired a defense guy.  But most teams seem to be looking for O.

I wonder who Taggart will name as his OC at FSU.

This article about T J Weist says:

He reached an apex last season when – serving as interim head coach at the Division I level for the second time – he guided upstart University of South Florida to an unlikely 46-39 victory over South Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl.

“To be in a bowl game and beat an SEC team on Legion Field, where Bear Bryant walked the sidelines…. what an honor,” said the 52-year-old Weist, who remains under contract at USF but is not coaching this season.

“To know what it’s like to stand in front of a team and to lead that team, it’s a special thing.”

Overrated...can’t understand why fans wanted him back here. Much more credit should have been given to Reeves... he was the real brains of the Gulf Coast offense. TJ was s nice guy and did make contributions but there was a reason why two coaches passed on him and one picked up Reeves right away (although he drank his way to a dismissal).

Seems that way.

Now, that he won't be their HC, he probably won't stay there as DC.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
