I read Leavitt’s 4yr/4.6M fully guaranteed contract and it appears it would cost FSU almost $4M to get him before Jan.31 and $3.5M after unless he takes a HC job. So he likely won’t be leaving to FSU.

Um....Levitt has already agreed to go to FSU for over 1mil per year and don't forget FSU has money from Jimbo Fisher's buyout. CJL wants to coach at Kanas State only. I think he is happy being the highest paid DC in college football.

There's a lot of misinformation out there about Jim Leavitt's contract at Oregon and what it would take for him to be hired at another school. We've reported Leavitt is likely heading to Florida State after Oregon's bowl game, and so has Noles247, TomahawkNation, the Register-Guard, and also the Oregonian.

Tuesday, Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said no one has mentioned anything to him about Leavitt leaving to Florida State with Taggart after the bowl. Leavitt himself has also said this when asked on Twitter:

Always been honest. Never have I mislead. Have great passion for the Ducks! Want to be a HC someday again Lord willing. Flying back tomorrow but tonight with my girls.

Don't always believe what you read. You know that. Have a good night

Here's a very simple breakdown of how you can understand it:

- Leavitt signed a four-year contract that's fully guaranteed by Oregon. He earns $1.15 million each season.

- Should the UO decide to fire Leavitt without cause, the Ducks would owe Leavitt 100 percent of his money that remains. So, say Oregon decided to hire a head coach who didn't want Leavitt as his defensive coordinator. He would be owed the remaining three years of his deal, which would be basically $3.45 million. (Section 6.2 B)

- Should Leavitt decide he wants to leave Oregon on his own terms for another coordinator position or a head coaching job (not Kansas State, more later), all Leavitt would owe to Oregon is $500,000 if he leaves before Jan. 21st 2018. If he leaves after the date and before Jan. 31st 2020, he will owe $250,000 to the UO. So should Willie Taggart decide he wants to hire Leavitt, FSU would only need to pay $500,000 to Oregon, plus up to $50,000 of the remaining buyout Oregon is paying Colorado. (Section 6.3 C)

- Leavitt has a clause in his contract that states "should he voluntarily terminate" his contract with Oregon to become the head coach at Kansas State University, the buyout is void and he owes nothing to Oregon.

You can real Leavitt's contract in full here.

What does this mean? If Oregon chooses to not hire Jim Leavitt as head coach, the Ducks would either need to offer him a job on the next staff or pay him the full remaining amount on his four-year deal. But, if Oregon offers him a spot and he decides he wants to leave, the Ducks would be owed $500,000 by whatever school hires him next, unless that school is Kansas State and they are hiring him as the head coach.

Oregon elected to name Mario Cristobal as Oregon's interim head coach to replace Taggart on Tuesday.

Absolutely! I have much more buy in with him than I do Willie. Would love to JL back on the sidelines raising hell and winning games.

Hearing Shaun King getting consideration for a position with USF North. Hope he sticks, he has become a real asset to our team!

That's the next thing to worry about. Not that there's a ton of Willie's coaches leftover that are still with Strong's staff, but Taggart coming back and still poaching guys from USF is kinda irky.

Willie wanted King in Oregon but King said no.

Can't blame him; Ca$h's got to take care of his family (wife, kids, etc.).

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
