We scheduled 5 home and home series with Big 10 teams in 2013:

Michigan State

Maryland

Illiinois

Wisconsin

Indiana

"Bulls and Illini series will mark 10 games vs. Big Ten opponents for USF over next six seasons"

I don't know what the buyouts were.

There might have been a "standard" buyout amount for all those games.

It's not like we could just demand a certain buyout and expect that the Big 10 would agree to it.

I presume that, USF acted honorably and expected them to do the same. And, we hoped there would be more such series with them down the road.

I've been for much higher buyouts with other schools long before we signed these series of games. So, like you, I am also frustrated by what has happened all too often.

What I've learned from watching college sports is that there are very few programs who act honorably. It made more sense for them to buy us out and schedule another cupcake home game. It's all about the $$$.

I understand.

But, in this case we were dealing more with the Big 10 conference who had a policy of wanting their schools to schedule FB series with USF. So, it wouldn't look good for the conference if their members acted less than honorably. We found out the hard way that they really didn't care.

Hopefully we have learned from this. In business you cannot trust anyone. You have to protect yourself. 

Id like to see us get more games against ACC or SEC opponents. I'd much rather go to away games in North Carolina, Georgia, etc than Wisconsin or Indiana.

Looks like SDSU will win another one. I still don't think they are that good. They'd lose to the top 4 or 5 in the aac.

I'm sure our AD would as well.

The Big 10 don't have any Florida schools in their conference. I presume that is why they wanted to schedule games with us at that time, mainly for recruiting purposes down here.
