Actually, there are now 17 pollsters who don't have USF in their top 25.

When the preseason poll was released, only 7 pollsters did not vote for USF at all.

So, we need to win back at least those who we have since lost.

That is why Auburn and Miami (FL) are ranked where they are. Don't you see?

You can drive yourself crazy nitpicking the teams ahead of us, juts like when people start combing through all the P5 teams we're better than. Yes, Iowa State has no business being a P5 team. It is what is. We're #21 right now and that seems about right. If we continue to improve and keep winning, we'll be fine. But to say we should be ranked higher... I don't buy it based on our body of work to date. Call me a non-fan if you like, but even if we win out (which is still a very real possibility even if we don't improve) this team is definitely not one of top 4 teams in the country and we have no business in the playoff. Alabama, Clemson, and Oklahoma would beat our ass senseless and steal our lunch money.

With how we have played so far I think our ranking is accurate.

We have played sloppy we need to beat Temple like we did at home 2 years ago.  

Slow starts, drops, blocked kicks and Flowers missing easy passes needs to be cleaned up asap.

I never thought top 4 was even fair to other teams with this crappy schedule, but maybe the new years day bowl G6 could be a thing if the team goes undefeated.  That could still be one for the history books if it were against a big SEC team.

Conference championship would be nice too.  Memphis got a big win...

Probably the Coaches Poll, since it more closely comports to that of the CFP.

Having said that, Jerry Palm now projects San Diego State would get the CFB selection committee invite over USF:

 

The one change in the New Year's Six projections is that San Diego Statetakes over the Group of Five spot from South Florida thanks to a 20-17 victory over Stanford. That win figures to be what separates the Aztecs and Bulls if the CFP Selection Committee has to decide between them. USF doesn't have a team anywhere near the caliber of Stanford on its nonconference schedule.

My guess would be the ones voting in the coaches poll are the least informed of the 3 groups, mainly because they are so focused on their own teams during the season.
