Steve Duemig is a good guy, known him for years. He's not anti-USF, he's just more critical than we wish. Has he been wrong in the past? Yes, but his arguments have always had a base in reality.

The he was just playing the part back in 2007 to stir up **** and listenership .... he is/was like a newspaper columnist in that regard.

I can personally tell you that he is not anti-USF. He was wrong in his love for Coach Holtz and dislike for our two successful coaches. Steve loves college football a lot and I remember him pumping up USF before the West Virginia game in 2007.

I did listen to him back then and I have a distinctly different memory of him during that time .....

Not much from the latest interview.  Same stuff really about cleaning it up offensively and with the punting.

I'm not a regular listener but will occasionally listen to Duemeg when commercials are playing on all the other stations I have programmed into my tuner.   Over the years I've heard him talk about USF at least a dozen times and I can't remember any positive comments.

The worst interviews are when the host and the player/coach have a friendship.  I remember Duemeg trying to defend Mike Alstott from callers day after day during one of his fumbling streaks he was going through.  He would have trashed any other player for that, but there was no way he would address it during the interviews.

I remember this.  A caller very politely and respectfully asked Mike about a play where he had fumbled, and before Mike could answer, Duemig dumped the call and ripped the caller to shreds for bringing up the subject.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
