Agreed, like I've always said, you and I have a very similar outlook on life.

We do.  The difference is, I know when to quit. ;)

How do you know most other fan bases have the opportunity to use a message board?  There are tons of them out there - this just happens to be one of the best, and most user-friendly interfaces available.

Some of them are truly the Wild, Wild West of the internet.  This is not one of those boards.

I appreciate your sentiments but I would suggest you do some research on other message boards before you label this one.  Plus, this is a fan site not affiliated with USF in any way, so the expectation shouldn't be that it is an extension of our university.

Exactly. Many boards are worse and this is a microcosm of fandom not affiliated with USF as you mention. Zero conclusions should be drawn from unaffiliated websites. A couple fairly mild and obvious troll threads should not be a big deal. Coaches and players and programs are going to get criticized and criticized hard on message boards. The sooner that reality hits recruits and their families the better.

Correct. And I am finding more. I personally know families of recruits and members of the media who read this board. It is a remarkable tool that most other fan bases don't have the opportunity to use. We should take the opportunity to consider how the school we purport ourselves to be fans of is reflected upon by what we post in very public spaces. If people want the freedom to avoid the potential for harmful ramifications of what they write, send PMs, texts, or do it in closed forums.

Thanks FazaUSF, you said it perfectly.  I agree and cleaned up most of the nonsense. I'd like to ask those that fancy themselves to be "internal trolls" just slow that a bit. Love the humor.  But keep it presentable.

I think switching from an offensive minded coach to a defensive one is a huge mistake. they have different mindsets. Strong was forced to go to the spread in his 3rd year there.

I think if Strong doesn't work out then we would have to literally bankrupt our athletic department in order to get rid of him

Was on a cruise for a week and didn't keep up on the 'pen.

Just wondering what the difference is (other than 1 year) between Strong being forced to go to the spread in his 3rd year vs. Taggart in his 2nd?

One is our coach now and one isn't our coach anymore?

It was Taggart's 3rd year and Strong's 2nd year ... and the biggest difference is pretty obvious, isn't it?  UT 10-14 after the switch, USF 18-7.

Willie  generated huge results, got better each and every year.

Strong, in a weak P5 conference, with 4 and 5 star recruits aplenty, just floundered. He is joining a loaded team, with a beneficial schedule, in a state he knows well. He won't mess this job up, as it may be a long stint for him.

Just my opinion.

Don't smoke pot, don't break the law, don't get dismissed. These are simple LIFE lessons for these guys. Employers won't turn a blind eye and coaches shouldn't either.

I didnt know Strong had such a reputation for enforcing team rules but I think it is great and really is how all coaches should run their programs.

I never want to see the things that happened at FSU and Baylor happen anywhere and especially USF. It is morally depraved to allow other students to be victimized by criminal behavior because the perp is an athlete and for the sake of win loss records. It is an injustice to the student body. Strong is doing everyone a service, the student body and the athletes, by having a low tolerance for misbehavior.

When I was playing, my coach told everyone in our first meeting, "School athletic policy is as follows: 1 positive test is a 10 game suspension. 2 positives is 30 games. 3 positives and you're gone. My policy is 1 and done." We all knew it. My shortstop got the boot halfway through his senior year and no one complained. When you're the coach, you get to make the rules and if the administration doesn't like them, they get a new coach or you change your rules. It didn't stop guys from smoking and rolling the dice, but they knew the risk. Hell, some of us had a calendar and knew the first day we reported in the fall and counted back 30 days from there and put a big red X on the day and said that was the last day to be stupid. It doesn't matter what you personally like. It doesn't matter what you personally think is fair. It was spelled out very clearly for us, we represented the school and, therefore, we had to play by the rules they made for us if we wanted to stay on the team.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
