The hire makes total sense, but he couldn't succeed at Texas despite having nearly infinite resources, so I don't think it's a slam dunk by any means.

He should if they were specifically told the consequences for doing it.

not a huge fan. hopefully we didn't break the bank and bend over on his buyout clause. we couldn't afford to pay him $11M to not coach our team like Texas can.

nothing about his stay in Texas impressed me. please don't say he was left a mess. They had just gone 7-2 in conference the year before. He was left with 5 future NFL draft picks on his defense and a doak walker award winner as a RB. he never had a winning year there. his record in his 3rd year was worse than it was in his first. he lost to Kansas in his 3rd year. a team that hadn't won a conference game in like 3 years. I believe he fired like 9 assistant coaches and had 3 different offenses while he was there.

This, But in his defense as I do more research, he never should have taken that job. To many bright lights for him. You almost have to be a CEO type coach at a place like that. They may need to rework the structure of duties for Tom Herman.

Charlie is best hands on calling defensive plays. Texas' defense improved when it took over play calling late this year. A role I hope he takes on at USF. Forget a DC, hire two OC and let them have at it and add wrinkles to the GCO! Problem at Texas, your best QB was a freshman!

that had nothing to do with 94th rated defense. perhaps this did though

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
