Another thing...VR seating is coming. Just you wait and see.

Hadn't ever thought of VR being used like that but totally agree it's probably somewhere not too far down the line .... Ned will be stoked.

I was reading a story about the Oregon coaching search.  One thing they mentioned was a declining attendance problem.

UCF brags all the time about their attendance and if you saw any part of some of the games on espn3 this year,  the stadium looked around half full - and that is with bleacher seats that let people spread out and take more room.

There were even empty seats for Florida vs FSU.

We should be doing much better than we are, but it isn't just our problem.

Go Bulls!

Declining attendance is one of college and pro football's dirty little secrets. It isn't just USF. Look at the SMU stadium during our game and their program is resurgent with a nice knock-off of Navy. It's certainly a huge G5 problem especially in the new paradigm of metropolitan schools in viable cities with a plethora of attractions. The students aren't stuck out in the middle of nowhere in old country area land grant universities anymore.

and as long as we're digitally manipulating the environment, I think we should work on a platform that allows each individual viewer to manipulate the game to their choosing, down to the player level. Oh...wait...nevermind. We already have such systems in place. As you were.

The problem with the current environment is that it doesn't let you focus on specific areas. If USF or the American wanted to work with Google or Facebook to set up a way to make that work, I'd be so game for it. You could see so much more, from changing camera angles (i.e. what you see in the Madden games), to watching different parts of the field. The TV oriented game follows the ball. You don't see routes develop, you don't see blitz packages, you don't see how the line is setting up their blocks.

Some of younger posters will probably not get this but I remember as a kid getting two CFB games a week on tv. Now everything is at my fingertips for USF. It still amazes me that I am driving down a small country road in the middle of no where New Hampshire and I am listening to the coaches radio show live. I get every game in clear HD, two hours after the game I am able to see interviews of the players and coaches (sometimes live), a few hours latter I am reading the newspaper's game article. I can even read and listen to our  opponents view of the game. With all of this it is amazing people are still going to games at all. I know the experience is great live but I can see how some will say "screw it."

Living near Detroit I would get a Big 10 game for the afternoon and usually a PAC 10 game for the evening.

Now, you're on target!    No traffic, no drunks, no obnoxious fans, no sunburn, no uber loud piped in music, blasting commercials, no 4-5 hour games, no overpriced food and drinks.   HD-TV/VCR....the way to fly.    College football, sold itself to TV, now they have to live with the results of their actions.

All good points. Throw in a mediocre line-up of teams on our home schedule, and you can see why attendance isn't great. Will be interesting to see if it's up a tick or two next year, being that there's a chance of being ranked to start the year, and the potential Flowers for Heisman chatter. Great chance to really get some momentum going for the program. If we run the table, win the CCG, and there's still no increase in attendance, that's when the data's in: The casual CFB fan around here doesn't give a hoot about G5 football, no matter how good the team.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
