Thoughts about our defense

Somebody help me with this. What happen with Rick Kravitz with USF? Last thing I read is he resign from a high school gig in St. Pete.

We have energy issues. i know that sounds silly, but think of it this way... the CJL could get the defense to play with 100% motor all game long. Woody seems to only be getting 95% for 3 quarters and 70% for the 4th. Lucky for us, that's enough to win most games. 

The ceiling for the defensive talent we have is high, we're just not executing with nastiness.

Also, side note about the 4-2-5... Tom Allen ran all sorts of whacky exotic blitzes and did alot of presnap stunting. if the offense knows that your players aren't coming up to the line, it opens the run game. gotta keep the offense guessing. We have consistently failed at it this year.

You are correct on both of your points...the 4-2-5 can cause mass confusion for the offense if it's coached correctly...one the same note, it can also be like a practice for the offense if it's coached incorrectly...

You nailed this.  We don't do anything pre-snap.  Our defense seems entirely reactionary, waiting to see if they pass or run, and by that time it's too late to get a TFL or get in position to cover the receivers.  

Its pretty ugly.

Exactly. I think we're severely lacking the horses on D-line to properly run this defense.
