I agree with this.  Its now 2 times in the last 2 weeks that he's fumbled inside the 5.  He's not a great short yardage back.  I think we all know this.  DJ needs to get the ball.  It used to be Darius Tice, but we don't have him anymore.

BTW, was that play reviewed?  I thought it should have been, but I didn't see/hear any referee review.

It wasn't  reviewed and I'm not sure why. I thought the ground caused the fumble but I haven't seen a replay of it.

The review booth looks at every play and they decide if they need more time to look it over.  Apparently, they saw enough in the time they had.

Yesterday was an uncharacteristic game of turnovers. Not entirely sure what happened, slick ball? But it's crazy to think we can lose to TO battle by four and still win by multiple scores...

Just rewatched the game. It was a legitimate fumble and a UCONN linemen came up with ball.

What helped is that three of turnovers were like a punt.

Team showed alot when down..they took the game over.

Mack has to hold on to the ball. He wants to get to the next level and those things are going to bite him. He needs to show that he can be electric and dependable. I agree that it's tough after a big play, but, sacrifice yards for ball security in that situation. He'll get it cleaned up, I am not worried about him.

You can't sub Mack after a big run because it defeats the hurry up offense. You can't just not hand him the ball either because it would be picked up on in film, you have to keep the defense guessing. Remember the whole defense just put in effort chasing him and they are a little winded too so you line and snap quickly and you have to be willing to run Mack twice in a row to keep the defense guessing or catch them before the line backers are ready. Getting two carries in a row is not an excuse for fumble.

Also, if we sub by rule the defense has to have the opportunity to sub as well so that kills our tempo. We just need better situational playcalling in those situations. Maybe a designed run for Flowers (QB counter perhaps), Jet sweep, or a play action would be better suited to that situation IMO. Mack needs to do a better job in traffic obviously (TWO HANDS on the ball) but the coaches also need to not put a winded player in that situation.
