Will CWT get to keep the bus if he goes to USC?

Just jumped on TBP and saw this thread....WTF!

What a crazy season.  CWT goes from hot seat after Maryland game to interviewing with an SEC school after 8 games.

If he wants to go, let him go.

Never directly but I remember quite a few "even my niece seen that we should throw more" type posts. All you would have to do is open up an earlier thread, even in some of our recent threads people argue the turnaround should have been sooner. Or if CWT would have gotten out of his own way Mike White could have lead this team to a greater season last year. His first year with the horrible dumpster fire there were those crying bloody murder.

If you don't remember it has to be selective memory. I never said everyone, just a very vocal minority. The team at the  beginning wasn't firing on all cylinders but it wasn't horrible aside from Maryland. I personally don't like how  we seem to turn on him.  Look at the  on this thread alone. Makes our fan base seem two faced. I would take note, that's all I'm saying. It's easy to love him when you see the end result, I always remember those who turned their backs when I was down.

He would agree that things were not up to even his own standards at the beginning of the season which is why he changed and took the reigns off the offense.  I think this is where the selective memory lies.

It's Muschamps job if he wants it.  At least it's a better job than Mizzou.

This logic makes sense, especially after watching Muschamp's meltdowns in the Iron Bowl.  Who needs that?  Schiano doesn't look like an SEC coach, IMO.  Rich Rod would love to be on the East Coast, closer to family, my guess.

I love what CWT has done the last 8 games, but let's be real:  of the 8 wins, only 2 teams (Temple & Cincy) had winning records.  USCe doesn't have to scrimp here...Spurrier retired, so there's no buy out, and they have ample cash.  So, would they triple Taggart's salary, given his record and the facts above?  Not likely.  I didn't speak to a frat boy, but one of my USCe alum buds strongly believes they won't gamble on Taggart.  He also said don't rule out that the hire isn't listed by the "experts".

As to impact on recruits, if Taggart stays, he can tell the kids that he did the smart thing:  test the market & get a pay raise.  That IS the smart thing to do, especially in this market.  If he leaves, he earned it...we always had the ability to pay him more (not SEC $$, but more than $1.15).  I think no matter what, Taggart gets at least what Frost is getting at UCF. Harlan is smart enough to play this either way:  pay Taggart or pull in another coach (or elevate Coach Allen).

My guess:  Taggart stays, gets $2MM, assistants get more $$, recruits lock in and we pull in a top 35 class.

Let's compare notes when the dust settles.

well.....that was a punch in the gut. id like to believe that Taggart is just playing the game to get a raise and bump up his assistants, man I hope thats the case.

Why cant we have nice things?

There is a nice article about Houston paying 3 million for its head coach and upping assistant salaries because it is tired of being a stepping stone job. They are also positioning for a jump to a P6 conference when the next moves go down. We need to do the same.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
