Is USF a "commuter school" - and how does that term affect you?

Exactly. There would 6 pages and countless arguments on this board regarding a thread about nothing.

I completely disagree ... for no reason.

Thanks Trip.

We're 5 for the last 5 on agreeing so I'd tread lightly ...

We've come a long way.  Just in the time I was there from 09-14 they opened JP Hall, and built two new apartment complexes right across the street.

Just noticed your Avatar and feel like I'm watching House of Cards.

Brad as you and Jim know, it irked me as well. Joey can be a hack reporter at times, and his views are usually on the pessimistic side. He's blocked me before for getting on him...but being one of the few sources for news, I kindly asked him to unblock me via Mr. Odom (who is really coming into his own with the whole news thing. Kid is going to be great at his job).

I still agree that the guy does not like reporting for USF, but only took the job because it's a promotion from reporting HS; which is what he was doing before.

He seems highly intelligent, and it shows in his choice of wording at times. I just think he's trying to do too much with reporting on CFB....we don't want satire, irony, parody, soliloquy, etc...just report, toss in some thoughts about it...that's it.

I hope he's gone by next year.

Kind of harsh hoping a guy loses his job.  I find his writing a bit dramatic at times and really loved Greg.  He sometimes sounds like he wants to write a novel.  But I would never hope for him to lose his gig.  Hopefully you were thinking more along the lines of a transfer to covering someone else.

DataBull:  If you want perception to change you have to change it.  Educate people every chance you get.  Alumni have to do that, and the school has to do that.  It takes time.

One down, ______ to go.

@JimUSFSig @TheBullsPen Well, this is the bottom line: That wasn't MY implication. Had no clue this would strike such a nerve. My apologies.

I commuted across 50th on my bike and pedaled my ass past the football trailers and occasionally threw The Jim a "morning Coach" when I saw him. That was a great experience.

USF is a commuter school....

Commuter schools have lower graduation rates.

JK was right.

No one uses the term 'commuter school' unless it's a negative connotation.    Period.

Every university has SOMEONE who commutes.  So if anyone claims 'commuter school' is an accurate description, then what's the magic percentage of on campus versus off to lose the moniker???

I wonder who will take the bait on your diet-smazza troll attempt.

Commuter school definitely has a negative connotation to many.

Whether or not people use it indenting to be negative does not change the fact that it's negative.  Given USF's policy that all (almost all, I know there are loop holes) incoming freshman have to live on campus eliminates the tag altogether.  The campus atmosphere and students coming to class from on campus or apartments adjoining campus has increased exponentially from even 10-15 years ago.

USF used to be a commuter school.  It's just not anymore.
