According to McMurphy and other sources.  AAC will be a part of new bowls this year in Orlando, Little Rock, and Austin this year, if approved.  Opponents will likely be other so called G5 teams.  This will give the AAC 9 bowls for this year and 10 bowls every year thereafter for 12 teams.  Again, if approved.  Applications were submitted.

there are already too many bowl games. Why do we need 10 spots for 12 teams. Very unlikely we could ever fill that.

Who gives a **** if there are 32 or 36 or 50 bowls? There are only 3 that matter and the rest are all for fun.

They can create as many as they want.

We go to a bowl game, I'll watch.

Regardless of the opponent.

Might not watch any of the others though. Including the playoffs. I'm a Bulls fan, not a college football fan.

McMurphy posted an article on ESPN.

Would give AAC the most bowls of ANY conference, percentage wise.

New AAC bowls:

Orlando bowl vs. Sun Belt

Little Rock Bowl vs. Sun Belt

Austin, TX bowl vs. CUSA

(A 4th bowl between CUSA and MWC in Tucson AZ is also being added)

These bowls would be in addition to the already 7-8 tie ins AAC has annually.

Approval is expected.  TV partners would be Fox Sports, CBS Sports, and NBC Sports.

Eggzactly. I don't get the whining about "too many bowls". The ones outside the now 3 ARE just for fun ... for the teams, their fans and any locals who want to go watch a college football game. If you don't care about them, don't go or watch.

I watched Western Carolina and USF.  For sure I'd watch a bowl against Florida Atlantic, Georgia St or UTSA.

Why wouldn't I?

Indeed, there are three bowls that matter. Everything else is there to fill up three hours of ESPN programming. If people will watch them, it doesn't matter whether there are thirty or sixty. Look, 'bowl eligible' (in most instances) means you don't have a losing season. So, it's not like you had some kick-ass stellar year and here's your reward, it's more like: well, you didn't suck nearly as bad as you could have, so here....here's three hours of television time against some other mediocre team. Have at it, and remember to turn off the lights when you're done. Granted, there's only about a handful of bowl games (team specific) I'd watch in the also-ran realm so tacking on three in Austin, Little Rock and Orlando is not an outrage. With any luck at all we'll be facing the UNCC 49ers in Austin.

This. I do think there are a ridiculous number of bowls showcasing some pretty indifferent talent but sure won't say no to more practice time.
