Looks like #USF's persistence is paying off with Jensen Beach OLB Chris Favoroso. He will take an official visit this weekend. @FavFalcon5

Was recently dropped from 3 star to a 2 star on Rivals. But I'm not sure why. His stats look pretty good. Think he led the State of Florida in total sacks.

All-State, OLB 6'3 228lbs ,105 tks,31 Sacks, 36 TFL. All Area Defensive player of the year. 2X Wrestling State Champ.

The University of South Florida visited Jensen Beach High School on Thursday to see outside linebacker Chris Favoroso (No. 5 Scripps Super 11).

South Florida has made an offer to Favoroso, the All-Area Defensive Co-Player of the Year, but seems torn between whether to utilize him on defense or as an H-back on offense.

Jensen Beach coach Tim Caffey said he expects to hear back from the Bulls next week.

South Florida already has verbal commitments from Jensen Beach linebacker Nico Sawtelle (No. 1 Super 11) and Sebastian River offensive tackle Marcus Norman (No. 2 Super 11).

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - Chris Favoroso is a two-time wrestling champion, the first one in the history of one of the best high school programs in South Florida. So he's a no-brainer choice for the CBS12 Athlete of the Week.

Favoroso moved to Florida from New Jersey in the 8th grade. It was not by chance he wound up at Jensen Beach.

"We picked here for wrestling," says Favoroso. "No one works harder than us."

Coach Tom McMath has had 5 state champions at Jensen, but no one quite like Chris.

"You can't teach fight," says McMath. "From the start, I knew he had that in him."

Chris's promise for greatness has turned into results. He won a state championship as a Sophomore in the 170 weight class and repeated as a state champion last week at 195.

Also a star football player, Favoroso has his eyes set on a big senior year - and the rare wrestling feat of a three-peat.

My assumption from the way his recruitment has gone is that he had a tentative offer to keep him on the back burner while the rest of the class shakes out.  I think he would have already committed otherwise... he really doesn't have a better option, or even one close. Questionable athleticism, but I'll always take a hard worker who had success at the prior level.  We've had several good LBs that fit that mold.

He was actually tied for 3rd nationally in total sacks.

It mostly likely depends on where he wants to play.  This guy is like an auggie sanchez type of player, kind of an enigma.  Probably should be an H back at the next level but actually is just gritty/physical enough to be effective at OLB/MLB.  So if we are offering H back and he wants OLB, he may go to a different school to make that happen.  Stats are amazing and he should be given a shot if that's what he wants.

I like wrestlers who can play football.  When I played in HS, my coach took me to a workout with the wrestlers to let me know how tough I WASN'T.  Most have excellent core strength, quick hands and tenacity.  I could see a guy like this at DE or OLB.

Looks like he has the size already, and can likely pack on more muscle (he'll love the not cutting weight part).
