Good. Was worried the LB coach from Ohio St was going to get it. His unfamiliarity with an attacking defense was scary.

What kind of defense does Ole Miss run?

A better one than ours.

This is a great hire. I like it so much that I'm almost upset because now I might get excited about next season.

Seriously, the offense needs major improvement. Otherwise, the defense will suffer, like it did this year. So there's that to dampen your enthusiasm.

Wow the hires under Harland have been very impressive. USF have opened the checkbooks to get good coaching it seems.

 

And what we may never know is whether this was Tags or Harlan's hire.

From the surface I like it. How much did he have to do with the success of Ole Miss' defense though? Hopefully he's a good recruiter.

Good question.  I think in this case, you have to hope that Allen's being a coach for a top notch SEC defense means he learned some good strategies and knowledge at Ole Miss that he can use here.

The LB's have been one of the strongest units for Ole Miss the last few years.  Something I think that is very encouraging is they lost their best LB and the next guy stepped up and had a great season.  I also like that Ole Miss is a very aggressive and attacking defense which is something we haven't had at USF in a long time.  How he will do as a play caller is a complete unknown right now.  As for his recruiting, after taking a peek around at the Ole Miss boards they say he's a very good recruiter and a high energy guy.  I really like the hire on paper.

I had him in HS he is very high energy but a very humble and friendly man. Considering our current situation this was a great hire I believe. I think he will inherit a defense that has good talent just needs to be coached up and molded.
