We should offer the next coach a salary of $1 with no annual contract. Other compensation includes $350k per win.

Go 10-2 and make $3.5 million. Leave or be fired at any time. This way, we are only paying for success.

There is 0 chance that the Oregon head coach makes the same amount as Taggart. Might say that in that site but as 84 mentioned he's gotta make up for it somewhere else.

All I said was salary...

That doesn't look right:

Wilie Taggart:

Here are the terms of Willie Taggart's contract as the new head coach of the University of South Florida.

Five years, $5.75 million.

The annual compensation of $1.15 million per year includes $400,000 in base salary and $750,000 in supplemental compensation, for public relations, radio-television and endorsements.

Rich Rod:

Rodriguez's current deal expires Nov. 30, 2017.

The proposed extension would increase the football coach's annual base salary of $1.33 million to $1.5 million. The salary then would increase $100,000 every June 1 through 2018, when it would reach $1.9 million. Rodriguez also earns $495,000 annually for peripheral duties such as radio and TV appearances. Under the proposed deal, that sum would increase to $500,000.

(Bolded numbers are for the current deal)

So Rich Rod's base salary alone is already more than Taggart's entire salary (again, talking before the raise.)

Yeah, I didn't think we were paying Willie $2mill a year. Hope your numbers are more accurate than the coaching website I was was using. For our own sake anyway

If this worked, programs would be doing it. Fact is, nobody would take this job.

That's a pretty bold statement. I don't know if it's true that nobody would be interested. In the business world, many CEO's have a $1 salary and all their compensation is tied to performance including Meg Whitman of H.P. Edited by Sellular1

only problem with that scenario is if CWT was on that pay schedule, we'd owe him money with only 4 wins
