UP NEXT: ’17 SIDNEY WILSON

HoopsIntel Staff, HoopsIntel.com, on October 5, 2014

By Rodney Romero

St Raymonds (HS) out of the Bronx, NY has certainly produced it’s share of high-end basketball talent. Names such as Allan Ray, Kareem Reid, Julius Hodge, ‘Truck’ Bryant, Brian Laing and current USF Bull commit Luis Santos are just a few that starred for the Ravens. The NYC power is not done producing talent as here comes Sidney Wilson, Class of 2017 Small Forward.

The 6-foot-6 Bronx native is a valuable piece for the Ravens team. On his goals for this upcoming season he said “To just win to be a good team, don’t make no excuses because we are a young teamâ€.

Wilson had a productive summer elevating his game playing in the AAU circuit with New Heights and also participating in the Under Armor Final Event this summer. Wilson can play above the rim, has extreme versatility, great ability to slash to the rim and has exceptional athleticism. South Florida, Temple, Arizona, Seton Hall, Villanova, Minnesota, St. John’s and Indiana all schools showing high interest for the Bronx native.

The most involved programs at the moment according to him are Temple, Minnesota and South Florida. For his Fall workouts he also mentioned St. Johns and Temple are expected to visit. As far as leading his team this season Sidney said simply “Do Whatever it takes to winâ€

Here is a brief clip courtesy of Gotham Hoops of his athletic ability:

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

    Michael Kelly
