The commenting section of any Texassite has settled into a specific routine that repeats every week; the actual game is irrelevant to that routine. (Today's example comes from Burnt Orange Nation, but every other Texas site is the same in this regard.) There are two roles in this play. The first is Texas Fan Who Thinks Charlie Strong Needs More Time. The second role is this person.

Our fan base has completely accepted mediocrity and failure. We are on a one way train to becoming Michigan with that type of acceptance...this coaching staff needs to be held accountable, especially the offensive coaches. Texas should NEVER be this inept offensively. EVER.

NEWSFLASH: 3-5 is never acceptable at Texas. EVER.

The Longhorns could get shut out by the Justice League and a Texas fan would still proclaim it unacceptable. MACK BROWN NEVER LOST TO WONDER WOMAN GODDAMMIT.

Nobody is, "accepting" mediocrity.  We all want to win.

But you've certainly seen that type of post on TBP, right? It has certainly been posted here, which seems like the point Sanjay is making.

I can't wait to see mediocre USF football being played.

I'd take that.  Huge upgrade!  Or would I be a spoiled fan who expects too much?

voodoo 5 said it best when they said we will have hit rock bottom when we stop caring about winning. One thing I can say about the last couple years is I am proud that the whole fan base has never stopped expecting to get back to winning.

Being patient is not the same as accepting mediocrity. Only spoiled children expect 10 win seasons every year. There are still four games to improve this season. If we could get some consistency at QB, I would consider this team improved from last year. This team has shown some real signs of life this season. Signs of leprosy too, but signs of life all the same.
