Hey Bulls fans I want to preface my post by saying I default to rooting for you guys if you aren't playing Houston. That isn't just visiting fan butt kissing, I hate UCF (beer throwing, self important mickey mouse scum) and all the other Florida colleges. I feel like both our schools are in cities that don't appreciate them as much as they deserve. Also our chancellor (who I mostly approve of) came from USF.

So I am going to be at Raymond James on Saturday to watch the Coogs and Bulls. I work and go to school full time but I have started doing one annual random semi UH related road trip to a city I have never seen. This year Tampa was the best fit on my schedule (last year I did Louisville).

I have done a nominal amount of Tampa/USF research but what should I do in 2 days in Tampa besides the game? I figured you guys would be the best place to start.

Taco Bus - Taco restaurant that used to be better than it is now

Cigar City Brewery - Brewery that used to be better than it is now

Mons Venus - Take a guess

Tampa History Center - On the water, by downtown, a little walkthrough of our history

Bayshore Drive - Road that goes along the bay, next to downtown, lined with amazing homes.

If you are coming with someone, here are a few suggestions:

Busch Gardens

Bern's Steakhouse

Hard Rock Casino

I was going to suggest a couple of those .... but then saw he was working and going to school full time and wasn't sure the status of his discretionary income.

Lightning is also at home against the Caps if hockey fan and money is no object. Can head to Ybor after game.

The Columbia is a solid history/food locale in town.

Also, Pinellas county (the St. Pete/Clearwater side) has the most beautiful beaches and sunsets in the world if you are over this way.

I found a cheap ticket for the Lightning game, which I probably wouldnt have even thought of (live nhl is awesome but I dont live in a town with a team).

If you can make it to the Undertow at St Pete Beach for a beer and sunset, it's an amazing experience

Get there plenty early, it fills up quick!

Edison's is a great place to eat dinner near downtown Tampa. Also, a great place to eat lunch is Oxford Exchange near downtown Tampa as well. Make reservations at both

Busch Gardens is great right now with this weather.

tbo.com has some great ideas of things to see and do

Thanks for visiting Tampa!

You will be pleasantly surprised how well received and supported hockey is in this area. The gameday experience and atmosphere are pretty top notch and it doesn't hurt that the team is fun to watch (even when they're not good, they're a good time - wish USF was like that).
